Thread: iMON VFD

Thanks, I hope to add the ability to show when a recording is occurring soon...any inputs on how that is displayed? I am thinking about adding an R1, R2 etc. at the end of line two with the ability to turn it off in the config.

    Lightbulb Thoughts

The Registered Trademark symbol would be a nice indicator in the bottom right corner of line 2 for recordings.

Another thought would be when on Live TV to show the display like this:

    Code:
    ### CHAN LIVETV <-- Yes, I counted 16 characters ;)

    ***SHOW*TITLE***
Then alternate Title with SubTitle if applicable.

Other possibility would be when playing a video or audio file, to only display the file name without the extension (ie, mpg, avi, mp3 etc.)

    Or even another possibility
( I know, I know, enough already... I'm thinking these up as I'm going along... just as a sounding board if nothing else).
Is there a way to make the VFD display the menu option on the VFD, such as when on the main screen, show TV listings, Live TV, Recordings, etc?

Ok, enough thoughts. I'll stop before I hurt myself.
I am going to reinstall VStudio and take a look at the source and see if I can think some more... :>

Those are great ideas. I have the recording indicator working...I am working on the LiveTV display. I agree it can be much more robust, just have to figure out how to get the current show informtation. I also thought about showing the selection from the main menu, just a matter of figuring out how to capture that information.

Cool... I have been looking at the source, but to be honest, I'm relearning as I go. The last time I was heavily programming, I was still using VB6. .Net is a whole new animal for me and I'm really not too hot with the syntax in C let alone C# (yet).

    Latest Plug-in v0.8

Here is the latest version. Below are the changes incorporated into this version. I also included the source code for those who are interested. Thanks to Remco for his source code, it helped with some of these improvements.

    Change Log:

    v0.8
Only displays the video/recorded show title (removes .mpg, .avi, .dvr-ms and the date time for recordings).
Displays when the machine is currently recording with the number of recordings occuring, i.e. "R2".
Changes the display when the machine goes into standby and wakes up.

    v0.75
Added ability to monitor hard drive and warn when it is below a user specified threshold. Must be setup on the config screen.

    Thumbs up

    Very nicely done!
It looks like you are making very good progress.

I had a thought while playing with it. Is it possible to have a plugin such as this and have it NOT be displayed in the main menu (as it has no functionality there)?

Sub, you may be able to answer this...

Again, nice work so far Skate!

It depends how he created it. It definitely doesnt need a button on the main menu though. If he implemented an IEventNotification plugin, then no button would be on the main menu.

No button is required (that is how mine is setup). Just go to the plugin page in GBPVR Config and deselect the iMONVFD plugin. The plugin will still work as advertised but it will not have a button on the main menu.
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction to disable that in the code?
    Thanks

    As sub said:
    Code:
    public class iMonLCDPlugin: IEventNotification {
You could have a look at the source code i posted in this thread earlier.
