I had MVPMC working fine on my Windows XP PC for some time, the menu would come up and I would choose the option to go into GBPVR. Also telnet and web access into the MVPMC worked. This weekend I tried setting up MythTV on Ubuntu 8.10, then tried getting MythTV to work with the MediaMVP. I couldn't get it to work, kept saying "Failed to Locate GUI server". I decided to revert back to GBPVR on XP, however now I cannot get the MVPMC menu to come up or telnet/web access into it. I have GBPVR set to load the mvpmc dongle from 3-1-09. (http://www.mvpmc.org/builds/dongle.bin.mvpmc-20090301). MediaMVP just boots right into GBPVR, never showing the MVPMC startup screen.

Please help me get back the MVPMC menu and telnet/web access into it!

I have the MediaMVP wireless rev H3. I tried both wireless and wired, same problem.

This is probably firewall related, ensure that PVRx2.exe is open for UDP and TCP on your local network. If this doesn't work compress and upload your GBPVR logs.

Note the mvpmc nightly is not as good with GBPVR as the dongle that sub links to in the survival guide, this reminds me that I should commit the code changes one day.

See attached gbpvr logs for my attempt just a few minutes ago. I attempting using the dongle per the survival guide (http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/donglex2a.zip). I have the windows firewall service turned off, no other firewall programs on my PC.

It once again loads directly to gbvpr, without showing the MVPMC logo or menu. I tried using the GO-->Back/Exit button combo on the MediaMVP remote, but that did nothing. I cannot telnet or web into the MVPMC.

You are having serious network troubles transferring the dongle. It loads the flash copy of the dongle after the hardware timeout but the dongle transfer wasn't even close to being finished. If it isn't a firewall I'd check the cable connections or something basic.

Thanks. I was finally able to get the mvpmc dongle to load by using a wired connection. The H3 wireless connection would not load the dongle for some reason.
