Download: My Videos 3.0.0.0 (http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/uploads/Plugin/myvideos3.zip)

added
- .Link files now work with sub folders
- Amazon Poster and IMDB Description added to Scan Menu
- Actors added (displays a list of actors and their movies you have)
- Scrolling Text for the tagline in the Info Screen
- Scrolling Text for the movies description in the Info Screen
- Toggle Seen
- Every lookup uses a thread now so mvp shouldnt have any problems with long lookups

Actors Features
- Biography
- Gallery (images of that actor)
- Movies (all the movies you have online of that actor).
- Sort by Name, Date of Birth, Credits (how many movies of theirs you have).

Remote Keys
- FF/RW - next/previous actor/movie in the Info Screens
- PgUp/Dwn/Yellow/Blue - moves the scrolling text up/down for the actors bio or movies description in the InfoScreens.
- Red - Delete actor (in "Actors" screen).
- Left/Right - Next/Prev Gallery image

Installation
- If you are using My Videos 2.1.10.0 just unzip the file into the gbpvr directory and run, the database will automatically be updated and no configuration is needed.
- If you are using an older version of my videos, try and just unzip it and see if it works, i havent got an older version to test with but it should work with all 2.1.x version.

Warnings
- IMDB lookups can take awhile now, since it needs to download every actors info (only a issue if you are using a dialup connection).
- Uses more memory (not that much, but still a little bit more).

Notes
- This ones has had a lot of bug testing, but im sure there will be a few more bugs in it, but its pretty good as is.

Extras
- In the zip is a skin.xml for the Blah Blue skin, its been update by me and not the author of the skin, im sure he will update offically it to the newest version, but in the meantime you can get the skin to work by using the skin.xml included in this zip.

enjoy.

can you try it with the default blue skin and then post your gbpvr.exe.log file.

reven

it was the skin.xml file, it had the skin for my videos 2.1.10.0, ive fixed it, and now the myvideos3.zip has the correct skin.xml file.

as soon as i add the mydatabase file into the directory, the frontend will not load. as soon as i delete the file, the frontend loads immediatly. am I missing a setting or something?

How long are you giving it. Mine takes about 20-25 sec..

reven

whats in the database? look in the gbpvr.exe.log to see whats happening.

tblackwe

i gave it about a minute one time.
and the program loads immediatly after the file is deleted.

also, Video Library will not work if the plugin dll is in the plugin directory.

Quote[/b] ]Reven the (red) button on the remote does that shuffle the actor feature or not?
red for actors, will ask if you wish to delete that actor from the list (in the "Actors" view, not in the "Actors Info Screen").

and yeah the menu is configurable, i removed the "Play DVD" button, and just added my dvd drive to my virtual root, so does the same thing, plus i get the infoscreen for the inserted dvd.

tblackwe

yeah. its in the main directory, where the My Videos plugin is looking for it, according to the setup.

It doesn'w work for me either. It works until i click on a movie name and then i get that unhandled exception error with Object Reference not set to an instance of an object--must be some sort of bug or something!

Working great for me, just to let you know it's not widespread. I use the default blue (w/ the flat ground, though), and had the last version of My Vid.

Did you change the caching of the covers? It is a little slower going into some collection dirs. The one I can think of does have 60+. It's not a long delay, but I can tell it's a pause I'm not used to, because I have started 2nd clicking between the transition.

That aside, great upgrade. The actors part is a great add on. It only grabs the bio and gallery, but not the movies history list for them. Not a big deal at the moment, as it's worth having that new function in place.

yeah i decided not to grab their filmography, for several reasons.

Anyway you add for the myvideos to remember the last actors sort view. I always use credits, but everytime i go into actors again or restart gbpvr it defaults back to by name??If not no biggy..also is there a way to tag all the actors you don't want in the db and delete them all at one time..seems like you mentioned something about this before. I currently have 1500 actors..

reven
2005-03-14, 09:35 PM
yeah just sort by credits, click main menu and that should save the file with that info, or sort by credits, the view you want, click the [actors]/filelist button, then main menu, that should then save it.

I'm using the Media Experience skin--the brand new one just posted--hmmm... isn't that skin developed by the same person who developed my video 3.0?

I'll wait until the next update and see if that one is bug/error free!

Reven,

Is there any way you could add the keyboard delete button for deleting actors from the database by bypassing the are you sure screen. This would make it faster to delete them, just one key press...What do you think?

reven
2005-03-15, 05:54 AM
nah i wont allow you to delete an actor without an "are you sure" box. just incase you accidently delete one.

Ron22. the error is in the skin.xml file you are using.

the blue skin supplied and th blue two skin i know work, there maybe a bug in the new media experience, can someone comfirm this?

you dont need to do anything to the OnScreenKeyboard or Keypad folders, nothing has changed for them (and i doubt anythign will ever change, well not for a very long time anyway).

This ahppened to me too. I was using the new blue skin included in the MyVideo3 zip file, at least I think I was. Even after I pulled these from a differnt skin (the blueblah skin included in the archive) I still couldn;t get MyVideos to load. No error messages, but GBPVR never came up and used close to 100% of the CPU.

where did it stop in the gbpvr.exe.log file (if it gets trapped somewhere, it will just stop printing out to the log). it might be trying to update an old database or something, i only tested the upgrade with my videos 2.1.10.0, try using a fresh database from the wiki.

That's what I thought but it did. After installing I went into the config to configure it and the gbvpr msi install screen came up which I thought was weird. I resetup the capture card and downloaded the epg which put me back to normal. As soon as I choose the blah blue skin I get a popup for an unhandled exception in .\skin\blah blue\preview.jpg I redownloaded when I saw the posts on the first page but maybe I still have the old skin?

reven
2005-03-15, 09:13 PM
the blah blue skin isnt included, you have to download that skin, i just included an update for the skin to get it to work with my videos 3.0. my vids 3.0 wont be the cause of the msi installer, it has no way to effect gbpvr on this level.

Cool, what database should I be pointing to? The default is mydatabase.mdb which I don't have, pretty stock install of gbpvr. Should I be pointing at the gbpvr.mdb?

spyder40

reven,

It's working now but one more question. I'm using xrecord/cdk scheduler, is there a way my videos can use that database to get the descriptions/episode name instead of getting it from the filename?

reven
2005-03-15, 10:56 PM
nah it doesnt use the xrecord database, the only other database it looks at is the gbpvr database (not directly from the database, but through a helper method in gbpvr, so it cant effect that database, eg stuff it up).

Just curious reven, should I also point the MyMusic and MyPictures plugins to use the MyDatabase file, or should I just stick to using the music.mdb and thumbnails.mdb files that come with them?

reven
2005-03-15, 11:24 PM
you can point them both to mydatabase.mdb, but you'll all the entries in the other two databases will be lost, it wont improve speed or anything, its just so you can have one database instead of 3. it doesnt really matter.

Hi !

I have install the newest gbpvr program and myvideos plugin, but I receive this error message:
Column 'Tagline' does not belong to table VideoInfo.

What did it means ?

reven

it means you are using are using an very old version of my videos (i only made it possible to upgrade from 2.1.10.0 to 3.0/3.1), you need to download a newer database from the wiki, mydatabase.mdb, then in the config app change the connection strnig from videos.mdb to mydatabase.mdb (there is more text there, just replace that part of it).

I don't if you've been told reven, but there is a small bug in 3.0. I've got an error when the plugin tried to load the description for the movie outfoxed, which I have on my HD.

The problem seems related to quotations marks contained in the description of the movie. I manually removed the quotation mark in the Description field of the ArchiveTable table.

The Description text was the following:

Quote[/b] ]Documentary on reported Conservative bias of the Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox News Channel (FNC), which promotes itself as "Fair and Balanced". Material includes interviews with former FNC employees and the inter-office memos they provided.

The only way around this problem seems to manually remove the offending character from the description. No biggie, but maybe for the next update?

what method did you use to get the description, imdb, amazon or from the recording schedule (ie you recorded it).

To tell you the truth, I have no idea. I double-clicked on the GetDVDInfo.exe application in the \devnz\gbpvr folder. I'm pretty sure I did not configure a specific source in the config application.

GetDVDInfo is actually part of the video archiver plug-in, as is the ArchiveTable database table. I just tried the version on my machine with outfoxed and it worked fine, including getting the quotes. Did you download the recent update from the wiki site (http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/VideoArchiver)?

I have installed the newest my video's but I can't see any of the directories. I have all my movies in seperate directories and my video shows I have 4 pages with 41 movies but I can't see the names. I have my database pointed at mydatabase.mdb which I download from the wiki. Do I need to set anything else up to have it list the movies?
Thanks in advance

Until the last upgrade of GBPVR this plugin seemed to work just fine. I could set the directory for the picture location where it would show several sub directories. I am not sure what I have changed of if something in the main program is making a difference but now when I don't set the directory to one with a picture in it it refuses to load with the following message:
"Key cannot be null. Parameter name:key"

Am I missing something here or does the root directory in settings have to now contain pictures for the plugin to load?

Scratching my head.....

I have the latest version of MyVideos installed and am more than happy with everthing. There is only one thing I donīt know if I am only to stupid to figure it out or if it is not possible:
I have my archived (by xRecord) recordings in a separate folder. After archiving thiese recordings are only visible/accessible from within MyVideos. I could not find a way to delete a recording from within MyVideos. Is there a specail remote button or a config item I oversaw or is it simply not possible actually?

Thanks for help.

use either the Go button, F11, ctrl-o or the Function Button on the hauppauge remote to bring up the popup menu for a video/folder, then go to edit, and click delete.

Reven, a feature request for My Videos, and something I miss from Meedio. Can you make it so that you can get rid of the Menu bar on the left temporarily by pressing a button to expand the Videos to take up the full screen? If you press the same buttong again, it gives you the menu back and compresses the Videos back to the right half of the screen. Gives a better view of the pictures when you have to operate at a lower resolution (my projector is acient and only supports a max of 640x480 at 32bit color res).

Currently in Meedio all I have to do is hit Menu on my remote and it toggles this option. Not sure what this actually would map to in GBPVR.

Reven,

If possible I second KingArgyle's suggestion but for a different reason/screen. I've noticed when checking actors some have long first+middle+last names which wrap and put everything off by a line for the screen names. Home Improvement is a good example, lots of long real names. If it makes a difference I only use MVP's. Kind of nice asking for picky details instead of real problems!

its just how do i do it in the skin? im dont really want to add more skinning changes right now (people have been complaining, well bitching might be a better word... but i understand why, its annoying). good idea thou. i will think about it.

I just installed this plugin last night, and trashed the hack-job I'd made. Nice work, this is what I wanted mine to look/work like.

I like the suggestion KingArgyle made, I think I'd use that as well. Some other suggestions if I may, some of which might be doable in the skin, I'm not that familiar with skinning this stuff.

- It might be nice to display the video name along the top of the window, in the area over the black listing frame. Long names get truncated in some of the views.

- Along the lines of KingArgyles suggestion, it would be nice to display the currently focused cover art in the lower left corner when in viewing by details. Granted, for those with all the menu buttons on, there's no room, but I've disabled most, and there's enough room to display a nicely sized cover there. Or maybe the "menu toggle" button replaces the buttons with a larger cover.

3 "features" I wouldn't mind, that I had implemented in my half-assed plugin:

- A "choose random movie" button, ideally mapped to the remote, but not necessary. This sets focus on a randomly selected movie from the current category. Handy for those fits of indecision where you can't decide what to watch, or for settling disputes between the kids, whatever the box picks is what you watch :)

- If you're using the "resume playback" feature of gbpvr, it would be nice to indicate at what point a movie is "paused" in the listings. Similar to the "seen" feature, but providing info as to how much you've seen of it. Mine displayed a "Paused at 21:37" line in the details.

- A special "dynamic" folder in the virtual root, "Paused videos", which similar to the above, lists all the videos you've watched to some degree, and might want to finish. Ideally, this would have a config option to set the threshold. For instance, if you hit play, watch 10 seconds, and stop it, gbpvr will mark a resume point. There's really no point in listing such a file as "paused". In my plugin, I had hardcoded it to 5 minutes, anything I'd watched more than 5 minutes into would show in the "Paused videos" list.

Lastly :) It would be nice to have the ability to "import" a little more info in the .details file for those videos you can't look up on IMDB ;)

OK- I can't seem to get MYVIDEOS working. Problem seems similar to other people's issues. I install OK, choose it in the config, set it up, point it to the directories, but when OK the changes and service restarts, CPU and Memory go through the roof with GBPVR and no workie. Any help would be appreciatred.

Hi reven,

Was a fix ever found for the MyVideos skin-crashing problem?

I too basically get full CPU use and memory exhaustion when I install MyVideos as per instructions. The appropriate errors in the log are:

24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ActorInfoBioBackground"]/DrawImage[@filename="@Poster"]
24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ActorInfoGalleryBackground"]/DrawImage[@filename="@Poster"]
24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/CompositeImages/CompositeImage[@name="ActorInfoMoviesBackground"]/DrawImage[@filename="@Poster"]
24/04/2005 9:23:52 a.m..179 VERBOSE [2] Skindirectory = .\skin\Blue\OnScreenKeyboard 2
which you previously said would probably be a skin problem, but I am using the default blue skin updated with the skinning info from the latest MyVideos plugin (I even tried the MyVideos 3.2 beta, but got the same error).

I am using the latest mydatabase.mdb file, and the only unusual thing I can think of about my setup is that E: drive is my base drive rather than C:, so if anything was hard-coded as to directory location that might cause a problem?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

cheers,

tieke

Still same problem with version 3. I can get it to open with the plugin checked as active only if I choose blue blah skin. However, when GBPVR opens, the plugin is not listed still. Any other skin (including default blue) still eats up all CPU and memory and doesn't work. I have all default file folder settings as far as my GBPVR installation goes.

OK... I have finally decided to ask the question, that has been asked many times before... I hate doing this to you reven, but I just started with brand new install of everything... I have read your wiki's and just seem to be too dense to figure something out. Here is my system config:

Coppermine 933MHz.
1 GB SDRam
Hauppauge PVR-350 & PVR-250
NVidia FX 5200 - 128MB

Windows XP SP 2
gbpvr 0.9112b

Before I loaded the My Videos plugin, I was able to use all of the base gbpvr functions.
Your plugin is exactly what I was looking for... but I have had some troubles, getting to work.

For version 3.0, you say to connect to MyDatabase.mdb, but your install default is something else, I believe "videos.mdb". Why? Also, the field text for this entry uses quotation marks in for the "My Videos" plugin, but not the "My Music". Was this an oversight, or intended. Which one is correct?

I have been using the default blue skin, and experiencing the same problems as tieke and joshftx. I originally was able to start GBPVR, but it did not list My Videos in the main menu, then went back into the configuration and noticed the default entry for the data base was not as you requested in the wiki. I changed it to MyDatabase.mdb, leaving the quotation marks, but then when I tried to start GBPVR, it no longer started... it just blew up my CPU & Memory usage then stopped itself.

I can send you my gbpvr.exe.log, but it is too long to post here.

I installed dvd-decrypter. I downloaded the others into a directory as recommended. Meaning,
I placed dvdauthor windows binaries (v0.6.9win32), the cPVAS.exe from PVAStrumento, binaries found at http://stud3.tuwien.ac.at/~e0227529/mirror/cdrtools-2.01-bootcd.ru-w32.zip, for mkisofs, in the directory called c:\utils\dvd. I configured the plugin to find dvdauthor there, but I have not done anything with the two batch files in the root of GBPVR yet, b/c I don't understand what to do with them yet and I cannot get the plugin to function anyway.

Help...

P.S. I would be willing to document all of the My #### plugins, so idiots like myself can install them, so if you can lead me away from my errors, I will gladly document how to do it properly.

It appears to have something to do with the virtual roots. I originally had the same problems. I had a single DIR setup with my Ripped DVD's, when I added new RIPS to the folder and tried to restart GBPVR the CPU would max out and the mem would keep increasing and it wouldn't start. I then re-added the folder to the virtual roots and I added a different folder and now it works fine.

If you using myvideos 3.0 with the newest gbpvr release that probably your problem.
If you are using myvideos 3.1.1.36183 with the newest release then hell if i know..I Probably could help you out, my videos is the main plugin i use, I have not had that many problems..

i see now you are using 3.0 with the newest gbpvr release thats your problem.. Then again if this Interop.DexterLib.dll is not in the MAIN gbpvr directory that might be it..

this is just a bug i missed (it use to use a seperate database called "videos.mdb", i think ive fixed this in later versions).

sorry guys im going to be busy for the next few weeks, so i wont be able to fix or answer any bug reports, hopefully someone else can help you.

also if you have a problem, please post a new thread in the plugins support forum, let this thread die already, its kinda old. :)
