Great looking plugin!
I tried this with several skins, and seem to get some errors?
I am not sure if it is the skin, but I did add the recent BlueRetro Skin update from here

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?47170-BlueRetroVE-skin-for-NPVR/page3

already.

Anything obvious I am missing?

Hi,

the errors indicate an issue with your skin, so I'd recommend to switch to the default skin until your skin officially supports v3.4 of the tv listings plugin.

To see what's causing this, I'd need to have a look at your tv listings.xml skin file you're trying to use.

Hi,

from the attached skin files, only the 'default' skin should work with the v3.4 of the plugin. The others are outdated. If it still doesn't work after switching to the 'default' skin, please attach your logfiles using the default skin.

Sorry I forgot to update the display message (telling you to run the Change TVListings.bat batch file) for BlueRetroVE+ in the one I uploaded yesterday, the one in the link below should fix that crash

I am very new to nPVR, but it looks cool. I am in the US and pull basic Guide OTA. I am trying to use this plugin to grab missing info like description, repeat, season, etc but it crashes similiar to what is described here, I am pretty sure I am using default skin Help?
I have pasted the error below.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Are you sure you copied the supplied skin files into the right directory when you installed it??

They go into

("..\your data directory\NPVR\Skin\default")

(ie. for Vista/Win7 "C:\users\public\npvr\skin\default")
(ie. for XP "C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\skin\default")

and you should end up with something like ..\skin\default\TV Listings & ..\skin\default\TV Recordings

Not to but in on this thread, but I can not get the TV Listing option to even appear on my menu (I have checked the plugin view option in settings- but it does not seem to keep them checked). It looks like I did not place the plugins in the right folder as well, but am unclear about what the folder name is that is cut-off above ...TV Listings & ..

What is the full directory I should be creating there? This information is not in the instructions. When I unpacked I got this folder: 2011-06-15 TV Listings 3.5.0. That does not seem to work if placed as indicated above..

The log seems to indicate I should have something in my programs folder:

Thanks.

Hi,

when you have extracted the package from the tv listings release, there are two folders inside named "Skin" and "Plugins" that should be copied into npvr's data-directory, which should be the folder "c:\users\public\npvr" by default. If windows 7 asks to integrate the folders into the existing ones, answer yes.

If windows 7 asks to integrate the folders into the existing ones, answer yes.
Then that means I have them in the correct place: c:\users\public\npvr\plugins\tv listings (which does show an updated TV Listings.db3), and c:\users\public\npvr\skin\default\TV Listings and c:\users\public\npvr\skin\default\TV Recordings

In addition I have enabled the plugin view and setup the default guide within settings, but I am not seeing the new guide or options within the application...?? I am not using anything other than the default skin, haven't got that far yet.

Hi,

what exactly do you mean by "I have enabled the plugin view"? To enable plugins in npvr, open the settings form and highlight the entry "Plugins" in the left column of the window. There are checkboxes to enable or disable each of the plugins. If it's still not working, please attach your config.xml and your npvr.exe.log so that I can have a look.

Yes, that is what I meant, the checkbox for the plugin..

I finally see that I might be a little crazy in that I was expecting the TV Guide to change. I now see that I can scroll down the main menu to find a new option for TV listings (not visible on the screen at startup and I am not yet use to the application..). So I can see the TV Listings and the TV Recordings option now on the main menu.

Now I am trying to get the theTVDB link in for a series, but when I get as far as to confirm the link with theTVBD it just freezes-up, no confirm or exit is possible from that popup, I must . So is something else wrong?

See attached log and config files...it would not allow config to to uploaded so I zipped them together.

Hi,

sorry, I can't see what went wrong from the logs. At least it seems that a link was created for the search string "How+Met+Your+Mother", and the series information were downloaded successfully to the local cache. Is this behaviour reproducable with other series, too? And if you now select an episode from "How I met your mother" in the tv listings, do you see the additional information in the details popup?

Yes, it does seem that something has been downloaded to the cache (zipped files) the same for all series that I have tried. In order to get the additional information to appear in the details pop-up I have to select "Find More" and select the TVDB listing each time I want to see this information. I thought the link was to prevent the need to go through that process each time for a show in a series...??? Am I misunderstanding what it should do? Do I need to unzip what was downloaded and do something with it?

Hi,

there may be an issue with the customized path to the tvdb data directory. Can you please try to delete the value for "Data Directory" in the configuration form of the tv listings plugin, then try again to create a link with a series from your guide?

I have deleted the cache location, tried the link, then created the cache location again, tried the link..but it does not seem to make a difference. I will still need to select more information everytime for each episode.

What I am seeing is that the download to the cache happens as soon as I select more information for a show. But when I select to create a link I get the confirmation box. When I select 'OK' to continue it just hangs there. This pop-up box never closes. I have to select main menu or close nPVR to exit. What should be happening when the 'OK' button is selected???

Hi,

I meant to delete the setting for "Data Directory" - not delete the directory on disk. Just enter the configuration page for the tv listings plugin, then go to the "find more" tab, then clear the textbox for the tvdb data directory, click ok. Then restart npvr and try to create a link. If there are still isues, please attach you npvr.log file so that I can have a look.

would you mind to create a tvdb link for a series again using an updated version of the plugin I attached to this post: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?50768-No-thumbnails-anymore-within-TV-Listings-after-progressing-to-NextPVR-2.2.6&p=422192#post422192

Hi,

thanks for your patience. When establishing a link, something like the following lines should appear in your npvr.log file:

2011-10-22 10:23:29.051 [DEBUG][1] TV Listings: Updating link for 'Futurama' to '73871'...

2011-10-22 10:23:29.095 [DEBUG][1] TV Listings: TVDB Link update finished.

from your logfile, it seems that you don't get this far, i.e. the link creation is not triggered. When selecting "Create Link" for a found series from TheTVDB, do you see the confirmation popup ("This will establish a link between tv shows named 'abc' and the information from TheTVDB for the series 'abc'. Do you want to continue?"), or does it not even show? Or does it "freeze" or "crash" after you select "OK" in this confirmation popup? Are you using the keyboard or the mouse to select the buttons (just recognized that a double-click with the mouse on a button may not work as expected in this popup)?

Yes, I get the confirmation popup, but when I select OK it just freezes there, never closes. I have noticed this is also true for other popup confirmations in recordings (such as updating the recurring recording). I was using the mouse to select the buttons. I just tried it using the keyboard instead, now it closes Ok and I am able to exit the popup. I see the log update as indicated above, but when I go back into TV Listings I don't see the information from TVDB and need to go into "find more" again and select TVDB again..?? Hi,

I've fixed the mouseclicks on the buttons of the confirmation popup for the next release. After a link to a series has been established, the additional information from the tvdb should be added automatically to the description that is shown in the details popup when opening a programme from guide. But in the special case of the logfile you sent, the plugin was not able to find an episode by its name, so you might try other series and/or episodes as well:

2011-10-25 09:16:16.604 [DEBUG][1] TV Listings: TVDBCache: Performing episode lookup: 'Last Man Standing' - 'Last Halloween Standing'
