Hi,
I have a problem when trying to play filename containing the swedish character ö through the MVP. It works ok on the PC but the MVP crashes and reboots when playing through that. It seems as if Ö is replaced in the filename by some strange character. Guess thats the problem. The same applies to å and ä also but here it seems to crash on ö.
I know one simple solution is to rename all songs. But if possible I would like to keep them.

You are amazing!! Shouldn't you still be in bed in NZ or is it already morning your place?
Anyway I saw that post and checked my registry setting. As far as I could understand it is ok. That is the key was set to 0.

Thanks again for a superb software. This is just a minor but annoying problem but I'm still glad that you care to think about it.

Anyway, I checked the other thread with the french characters and it seems as if the problem is a little bit different. There the filename is listed correctly first time but then get distorted when requesting to play it on MVP.
In my case the filename is never ok in the log. Seems to be wrong from the start when adding the name to the que.
However I am not a SW guy so I may be wrong.

By the way is there any Swedish user out there that has an MVP. Do you have the same problem?

Try checking the short filename by doing the following:

Just checked. Looks ok for me.

I also tried both 0 and 1 for the registry setting with same result.

Sorry, I dont know.

Suddenly I started to think. Realized that the music was on a FAT formated drive. Moved that particular directory to a NFS drive and voila now it works.
Guess it has to do with how windows reads FAT filenames. I think I bettwer move the music to the NFS drive.
