Depending on the actual device, one could have one of the following eMPIA USB 2.0 Video Devices
[Models]
%USB2800.DeviceDesc% = USB2800,USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2800
%USB2801.DeviceDesc% = USB2801,USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2801&MI_00
%USB2820.DeviceDesc% = USB2820,USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2820
%USB2821.DeviceDesc% = USB2821,USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2821&MI_00
%USB2840.DeviceDesc% = USB2840,USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2840
%USB2841.DeviceDesc% = USB2841,USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2841&MI_00

In the device drivers provided by Kworld, the relevant parameters will be as follows:

USB2800.DeviceDesc = "USB 2800 Video"
TVTuner.2800.Name = "USB 2800 TVTuner"
TVAudio.2800.Name = "USB 2800 TVAudio"
Xbar.2800.Name = "USB 2800 Crossbar"

USB2801.DeviceDesc = "USB 2801 Video"
TVTuner.2801.Name = "USB 2801 TVTuner"
TVAudio.2801.Name = "USB 2801 TVAudio"
Xbar.2801.Name = "USB 2801 Crossbar"

USB2820.DeviceDesc = "USB 2820 Video"
TVTuner.2820.Name = "USB 2820 TVTuner"
TVAudio.2820.Name = "USB 2820 TVAudio"
Xbar.2820.Name = "USB 2820 Crossbar"

USB2821.DeviceDesc = "USB 2821 Video"
TVTuner.2821.Name = "USB 2821 TVTuner"
TVAudio.2821.Name = "USB 2821 TVAudio"
Xbar.2821.Name = "USB 2821 Crossbar"

USB2840.DeviceDesc = "USB 2840 Video"
TVTuner.2840.Name = "USB 2840 TVTuner"
TVAudio.2840.Name = "USB 2840 TVAudio"
Xbar.2840.Name = "USB 2840 Crossbar"

USB2841.DeviceDesc = "USB 2841 Video"
TVTuner.2841.Name = "USB 2841 TVTuner"
TVAudio.2841.Name = "USB 2841 TVAudio"
Xbar.2841.Name = "USB 2841 Crossbar"

I have only the usb 2820 device, so do not know if there any functional differences among the various devices. Using ffdshow interlace filter seems to provide better performance.

While recording shows, the file size using this usb device was significantly larger compared to my other PCI card with on-board hardware MPEG2. Any insight for large recorded file size using such usb device will be appreciated. Is that different in Hauppage usb-pvr devices?

Thanks.
Ok, cheers. I'll add the "VStream PVR2 USB2820" settings to the master file. I wont bother with the other ones until some actually tries them.

Its probably failing to set the bitrate so you end up with the defaults.

You could try setting "INIT_MODE=DEFAULT" to see if it helps.
I have a DLink DUB-T210 USB MPG2 TV Tuner that seems to use the same chipset family, but this seems to use the USB2821.

I can use the shipped application and SageTV to view TV using this tuner..

Should the settings above be enough to get my usb tuner working, or do I have to make other changes?
You'll probably need to replace the "2820"s with "2821"
Thanks,

I have placed the following settings in my direct.ini file.

---------------------
[DLink DUB-T210]
INIT_MODE=DEFAULT
INIT_MSP=1
DETECT_MSP=0
FILTER_CAPTURE=D-Link DUB-T210 TV Tuner
FILTER_TV_TUNER=DUB-T210 TVTuner
FILTER_TV_AUDIO=DUB-T210 TVAudio
FILTER_CROSSBAR=DUB-T210 Crossbar
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_VIDEO_IN=Analog Video In
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_AUDIO_IN=Analog Audio In
PIN_CAPTURE_CAPTURE_OUT=Capture
PIN_CAPTURE_PREVIEW_AUDIO_OUT=Preview Audio
PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_VIDEO_OUT=Analog Video
PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_AUDIO_OUT=Analog Audio
PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_IN=TVAudio In
PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_OUT=TVAudio Out
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_TUNER_IN=Video Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_TUNER_IN=Audio Tuner In
PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_DECODER_OUT=Video Decoder Out
PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_DECODER_OUT=Audio Decoder Out
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=Input

These settings allow GBPVR to detect the external usb tuner. I now can't seem to get a picture.

Looking in the GBPVR.exe-native log I see the following lines;
-------------

---------------

If I use the tuning assitant I get an error stating that it failed to connect pins, though if I try and view it again I get to see the picture though no sound.

I have used graphedit - and this is what it shows;

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

I can attach the default sound card in the machine as shown

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

What settings do I put in the direct.ini to allow this to work?

Cheers.
Sorry, but I'm not sure if you will be able to get this device to work with GB-PVR. Normally the audio and video decoder out pins on the crossbar would be connected to two pins on the capture device, but yours only has one input pin, which implies this device works differently than the way GB-PVR was designed to function.
Thats a shame as GBPVR was looking the best product on offer.

Interesting that the external usb tuner worked with Sage without any configuration.

Thanks

Not that surprising. They've probably built-in support for this style of device.
