Full Version: MVP resets frequently with GBPVR but not Hauppage software

Hi, let me start by saying that I really like the gbpvr software (great work sub!), and I think this forum is a great community.

I'm having a problem similar to one that other people have had on this forum, (like here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=9029) but I can't seem to beat it. I have a PC running XP with 1.5GHz Athlon CPU and 512MB RAM and a pretty new H1 MVP.

The Hauppage software works perfectly, but as we all know, it's functionality leaves a LOT to be desired! Enter GBPVR. GBPVR runs fine on my PC, but when I run it on the MVP it resets after (or sometimes during) pretty much every MP3. I'm mainly interested in MP3 playback on the MVP, no video or anything.

As the Hauppage software works fine, I think my MVP is ok. As GBPVR works fine on my PC, I think GBPVR is okay, so something must be wrong with my setup. I've read through a bunch of forum threads and tried the following:

1) Reinstalled XP and gbpvr
2) Installed .NET 2.0
3) Ensured gbpvr.exe is running at above normal priority
4) Enabled Network Adapter Onboard Processor
5) Set MTU=1492 and disabled QOS using the TCP optimizer software recommended by tipster

If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it! I've summarised the log file below, but it looks like it simple loses the connection.

Thanks!
Thanks tipstir. I should have said, I already had .NET 1.1 installed, but tried also installing .NET 2.0 as some users found in increased stability. I also meant to say that I tried with my firewall swiched off, but that didn't help.

I'm running XP pro, and the MVP and PC are both connected to a router.

I will check the setting you suggested in Local Security Policy - thanks for the advice!
Thanks again tipstir - I'll check my router settings too when I get home. Although, if the MVP was not in the router's DHCP table, I wouldn't be able to connect at all, right? Or am I missing something? GBPVR starts up fine and starts playing MP3s, but just restarts frequently.
I've just noticed how many posts you have made on the forum 3,562! You are one dedicated dude! Thanks for the effort!

This is the error addressed by the patch here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=9...stcount=29
aha! I had missed that part of the thread - thanks sub. I'll try that out when I get home!
The patch solved the problem - thanks sub. I'm also going to try out your suggestions tipstir. Thanks for the quick responses, I can finally get rid of the Hauppauge software Big Grin
