I am looking to built a MC running on as little power as possible due to heat, and wondering if this will work, if not, what would be the next best option.

Pentium 3/866 or 1GHz
512MB SDRAM PC133
300GB Maxtor on SATA Addon card
GeForce MX4000
2 x KWorld DVB-T-100 PCI

Would the above give reasonable performance ?
Would it run better under 2000 or XP Pro ?
Would it work with onboard graphics like 865/915i etc. ?

If I have to, I could up the mobo/cpu to P4/1.8 or higher in order to get stable and smooth dual tuner performance especially when recording. and GeForce 4200Ti for VGA
But ideally I rather use low power devices if possible.

Thanks
Can't answer specifically, but can tell you that my system runs OK on the following config, which is somewhat similar to your proposed rig:

Pentium 3/1.2GHz
512MB SDRAM PC133
2x80GB Maxtor ATA
GeForce 6200 64bit 128Meg (I had a FX5200, OK, but not so clear)
1 x PVR-150
XP Pro
Nvidia PureDecoder/Nvidia Drivers (See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17265 for correct combo!)

Best things are a Video Card with DVXA and Hardware Acc'n (See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16157)
Turn off MVP if you run TV out or on PC (See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17265&page=3)

k.
Processor seems a little on the slow side (I am sure others will dis-agree with me! Big Grin) With a proc that slow, I would say 1gb of ram would almost be mandatory.

I run at 1.6 w/ 1gb of ram... and I wouldn't want any less ram. Food for thought. Smile
is that KWorld DVB-T 100 a hardware mpeg-2 encoder?? if its not, I can see you are WAY under powered for a Digital TV recorder....
as I understand it most DTV/HDTV recievers require highend-processors unless they have hardware encoders on them. I would think you would need a min of 2Ghz and 1Gb of RAM ...

I remember reading somewhere that running 2 digital tv tuners would kill a system.... but that might have been for MCE.... oh and I think your video card will disappoint you greatly..

Good luck tho!

It's a dvb-t card the braodcast is in mpeg2 so no need for a hardware mpeg encoder.
