Ok the missus will let me get a card to prove the PVR is a bood way of going.

Im looking for the following.

A reasonable price card with IR blaster and remote. I am willing to buy bits separately so a kit is not a must.

Digital Tuner is not essential.

Is the Wintv 150-350 range to go? and what is the pro's/ cons to the Media centre editions???

Thanks
Here's a good starting point (if you have not read it yet)

The PVR-150 is probably the most popular analogue card used by gbpvr users. The PVR-150 MCE-kit gives you the IR blaster and FM radio.

I suggest spending just a little bit more money and getting

the OEM card

plus the MCE remote and beanbag receiver
Microsoft MCE Remote 2005 (version 2)

I've tried both the Hauppauge kit and the Microsoft kit, and they will both work similarly, but I find the Microsoft hardware to be better over all.

I did have to take the Hauppauge kit back twice...

So im taking the only main benifit of buying seperate is the RCA input mainly?
it would seem more people have trouble getting the hauppage remote working
going by the number of people who ask how do i......?.my green button wont ...?where as you dont see many people with mce remote problems

i have the mce remote and find it great simple and found it pretty much worked just plugging it in one machine running xp pro and another running mce 2005/use Free program hip to get the start button working

just make sure what ever card you choose it has hardware mpeg encoder

i would go the mce pvr 150 kit
or buy the remote seperate and the oem mce pvr 150 (then you get the sender for your set top box you may get this with the kit anyway check)
Well got the 150 and MCE remote ETC. Should i remove GBPVR before installing?

What software needs installing for the card to work with gbpvr?

Thanks
you should be able to just plug it in no need to remove anything
get the latest drivers from hauppage pvr150mce
and if its a mce remote it should just load as soon as you plug it in (usb)
Sweet. I will try it and see...... Thanks
