Full Version: DViCO FusionHDTV Dual Express PCIe not working
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Hi,

I have a Dvico FusionHDTV Dual Express PCIe TV dual-tuner card in my desktop PC. I can't seem to get GB-PVR working with it for some reason, although it does work with the bundled FusionHDTV software (in both digital and analog modes). I have set things up for Melbourne, Australia, but the channel scan does not produce any channels at all.

Details of my PC are found in my signature block.

Here is a listing of the FilterCheck.log file:

I would be grateful for some help in getting my Dvico card working with GB-PVR. Can anyone offer some suggestions as to what I might need to do to accomplish that?
For the digital side, try adding the following entries to your bda.ini:
Code:
[Dvico FusionHDTV Dual Express Tuner 1]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=FusionHDTV, BDA Tuner1
FILTER_CAPTURE=FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture1
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[Dvico FusionHDTV Dual Express Tuner 2]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=FusionHDTV, BDA Tuner2
FILTER_CAPTURE=FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture2
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

It doesn't seem to have a hardware encoder for the analog side which is needed for use with GBPVR.
Thank you for the suggestions.

I cut and pasted the modifications into the bda.ini file and tried re-running the configuration utility. However, I was still unable to get any channels to show up. A screen snapshot of the results that I see is in the DigChanMap.jpg attachment. This is a combination of a during-scan snapshot and the end-of-scan error message. It looks like the correct channel frequencies are being scanned, but nothing is showing up.
Do the scan again, then zip and attach your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
As requested, I have run the tuning scan again and zipped and attached my config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log files. Thanks for offering to take a look at them.

I have done some further troubleshooting and can report the following.

In my original configuration, when playing the Dvico high-definition .tp sample files, the picture was stuttering. Sad The Dvico web site mentioned that this was supposedly likely to be caused by an IRQ conflict of some sort (not sure how/why though).

I moved my 8600GT card to the second PCIe x16 slot (furthest from the CPU), and also moved the Dual DVB-T Express card to the first PCIe x1 slot (nearest the CPU). I also took this opportunity and installed the latest nVidia graphics drivers. When playing the demo .tp files, the picture stuttering problem was gone. Smile

I then tried the tuning scan with GB-PVR. This time around it began to find some channels. Smile It had found the ABC and Network 10 channels when I suddenly got a blue screen and my PC spontaneously rebooted. Sad

According to the Windows message that popped up in Internet Explorer, the suggested cause of this blue screen was a device driver problem. After the first reboot, I tried tuning again, and the same thing happened (at what seemed to be a slightly different point in the scan, further into the scan).

I checked the log files and they all seemed empty. It seems like the crash stopped them from being written.

In case the information is of any relevance, the Dual DVB-T Express card still works with the FusionHDTV software, but the picture on SBS Digital stops and and starts continuously (its essentially unwatchable). The signal level in FusionHDTV software shows about 22 dB and 90% quality on SBS, whereas the signals on the other digital channels are 30–31 dB and around 100% quality. I don't know whether or not a value of 30 dB is representative of a good strong signal or not. Can anyone comment on this?

Windows device manager shows that I'm using the "FusionHDTV Express, Unified Capture (Dual DVB-T Express)" drivers.

I can't fathom what's going on here, so any suggestions further suggestions that might get things working with GB-PVR would be most welcome.
I have reverted my 8600 GT card to its original slot and installed/uninstalled a bunch of older Dvico drivers. Still no success.

Then I reinstalled the latest Dvico drivers, and lo and behold, the tuning scan in GB-PVR decided to work. First time through it missed the SBS channels, but when I did a rescan I got all the Melbourne digital channels. I also managed to get the EPG, which is handy.

However, the picture on SBS stops and starts, and remains unwatchable. I don't understand why SageTV can seem to process a steady SBS picture, but other software can't.

I also was able to try my Dvico tuner on a Windows Vista Ultimate x64 system. Vista found the hardware and downloaded the drivers automatically. When Vista Media Centre was fired up, it was able to find the card and do all the tuning and it was possible to watch TV. Even SBS had a nice and steady picture in comparison to what I'm getting with the Dvico software.

As you might imagine, it's all quite frustrating having things work on one platform and software combination and not on another. It seems that XP x64 is not quite as well supported as Vista x64 when it comes to TV tuner cards and the required software. It's a pity really.
