I have Dish Network with one receiver which has two outputs. The "second" output is set to NTSC channel 60 on coax and the STB is controlled using the RF transmitter that came with the receiver. The remote only transmits in RF and the STB does not have an IR input for the "second" output (the remote for the first STB output transmits both RF and IR, but the second remote only transmits on RF). Is there any kind of hardware that can duplicate the RF output of the remote so I can put a GBPVR PC in the room with the connection for the "second" output.

I'm not aware of anything can do this. Sorry.

Maybe it has firewire control available?
do it the other way around, use the rf side for livetv viewing, and let gbpvr have the ir controlled side...Smile
it'll have better picture also if you use the svideo outs to cap card..

Already got a GBPVR box on the (s-video) output that is controllable using IR (living room). I use it for both live tv (really like pause and later fast-forwarding through commercials) and for recording when I am not home to watch live. I want to put a homebrew DVR in the other room/on the other output so I can record another show while other members of the family are using the one in the living room. Channel changing is the only thing holding me back.
I found what you need. It goes inline on the coax near your PVR and you tape the IR emitter from your PVR to the IR receiver of the device. I would think a 2.5mm male plug to 2.5mm male plug would be an option also.

Can someone add this device to the Wiki remote control sections?

Thanks. I am now scouring the web for the best price on one of these gems.

That'd be me, I may have just gotten a dud, but if you go that route you are on your own as far as support goes, Dish Tech Support is absolutely clueless on these things.

Tech support is pretty bad at a lot of places, so it's no surprise. I am still interested in markbb1's results. Some users at slingcommunity got it to work fine. You probably just needed another one.

No doubt. Through research on this thing, i found that it was created with slingbox users in mind, since Dish owns them now. The box came with an 1/8" to 1/8" male cable to go between the slingbox and the dish IR converter box.
