Well, here I am asking for help again.

I have a Hauppauge 2250, which I have had set up and working fine for some time now. Due to having a settop box, I only use one of the receivers. I did not purchase the model with the remote, however, so last week I went to the Hauppauge site and bought the MCE Certified Remote with IR Blaster http://registration.hauppauge.com/websto...mce_remote. I have it all plugged in and working fine in Media Center.

My problem now is that I cannot get the dratted thing to change the channels on my settop box with GB-PVR. I have tried to read the threads concerning how to do this, but I have found the advice to be confusing and (apparently, at least) conflicting.

Can somebody please explain, in simple terms, exactly what I need to do to enable GB-PVR to change the channels on my settop box so that I don't have to worry about leaving it on the proper channel when I have a scheduled recording approaching but may have last been watching some other channel?

Thank you very much.

You will need software like "Hip" for GBPVR that has a blasting utility. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/...rdware.HIP
Hey, thank you for the help with the IR blaster, but how would I boot the PC from the remote now?
I'm sorry. I probably should have said this in the beginning. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I downloaded and installed the latest version of HIP but it crashes immediately on startup. Additionally, the directions in the wiki are for much older versions of both programs.

I wonder if LM Remote would work?
Snooze,

It installs and runs. However, I have to pay for it if I want to download the plugin for GB-PVR. I was honestly hoping for a less costly solution.
here's a new simpler guide for HIP setup..
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/QuickHipGuide
but that's for remote setup..

here's my net2hipsend setup instructions...works with latest ver of HIP..

if need further help, let me know where you're getting stuck...
i'd like to make the instructions more complete and understandable, as this stuff does get complicated..so any questions are welcome..Big Grin
i also have new version with easier cmd line opts, but haven't adjusted instr. yet on wiki for that one..works the same tho..

p.s. this remote should be able to wake machine from sleep modes,if using remote that came with it..
pBS,

Thank you very much. I will look over the instructions and see if they're understandable to me. However, HIP is incompatible with Windows 7 x64, and there are apparently no plans for any quick updates. So I have to look for a non-HIP solution.

here's your "non-hip" solution...lol

remote without any software, and blasting using ms driver with cmd line util...
Wink
now i haven't tried it with 64bit, but it should work same..isn't a driver..
tho the reg file may need adjusting for 64bit reg paths...let me know..

make out any donations over to Sub here...Big Grin

i'm sooo close to figuring out how to make other remotes wake up system..
but i'm not that good with byte orders and other stream datatypes so may never get it..lol
