Hi,

I've encountered a minor snag I don't seem to be able to solve. I went to stream something from EWA earlier and discovered that the 'Stream' button was unavailable. No big deal, simply a matter of pointing EWA to the correct location of VLC (in the Program Files (x86) folder).

However, I still can't get the stream to work. I click 'Stream', then 'Start Stream', but no joy, the player cannot connect. On further investigation, the server isn't starting VLC (not according to Task Manager at any rate), and the GBPVR log files show no indication that EWA is trying to do anything.

Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks Smile
What is in the EWA logs? After you click on the start stream go to the statistics tab and see what info is in the log....post it here.
Hi,

As newly registered, I hope it is not inappropriate to hijack a recent, but uncompleted thread. I am having a similar problem. Prototyping a setting, vista 32 server, xp client, both on the same ether switch, no firewalls. Client browser firefox (but IE shows the same results). Selecting all default, launches the VCL app on the client with header http://l192.168.111.107:7648, server fires off vlc.exe. Nothing happens on client. Stopping the server via the client popup results in VLC on client popping up message "Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://192.168.111.107:7648'. Check the log for details." Tried to get that log to work but failed.

EWA Log is:

Are you using the most current VLC?

Try using these settings for the stream (select manual)....

Sorry, should have included versions, all are the latest, I installed this yesterday, vcl 1.1.2. Tried your recommended settings. No joy. The problem seems to be a connection issue. I eliminated the client and tried directly on the server. Server/Server, VCL immediately pops up the message box Check the log for details." (Still can't get vcl logging to work.) Tried WMP on both sides and the hangs "Connecting to Media", followed by pop up "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct." Same results, firefox or IE. Log attached (i hope).
I guess the log was too big. Here is a partial

What is in the VLC log? (Tools then Messages) after you get the message box that reports their was an issue.

Apparently, I am not the first to discover that CLC logging is broken. From the VCL forums

Known issue. File logging has been broken for months.
Hi,
Sorry for the delay, still on holiday and have only just got to somewhere I can remote access the GBPVR server.

I hope this isn't a really stupid question, but where is the EWA log? When I access and use the EWA, none of the files in the /log folder seem to get updated, nor any file in the /web folder.

Thanks Smile
UncleJohnsBand, Down to my last two clean PCs. Have GBPRV .47 running on a vista 64 now recording a test file. Have not yet installed VCL. What version is known as working? Tried to down grade to 1.0.1 on the dirty Vista 32 but had the same results, including no logging.
