Full Version: DVB-S2 dual tuner cards for NPVR?

I am currently using a Haupauge Nova PCI DVB-S card under GBPVR with Freesat in the UK.

I would like to shift over to nPVR and I would like to be able to record from two transponders at the same time - or watch one while recording on the other.

The machine I use as a PVR is a beefy little box with 2G of memory and 500G of disk that manages to record multiple streams via the Nova without breaking into a sweat.

However, it only has ONE conventional PCI slot - so I cannot add a second card (unless it is USB).

I have read the various threads about dual tuner cards and I am thoroughly confused.

What DUAL DVB-S or S2 tuner, PCI (*NOT* PCI-EXPRESS), cards are known to work with nPVR??
I'm sure there was a matrix of cards known to work with GBPVR - but I dont seem to be able to find it now (and I guess it may be out of date).

Any recommendations welcome.
Dave
I have used a Pinnacle 4000i - PCI, dual DVB-S with NPVR - works fine. ISTR with gbpvr I had to use someone else's scan cache file, but a lot of tuners had to do that. NPVR support is much better.
Of no use to you, but I now use a Pinnacle 7010x - PCI-e dual DVB-T and dual DVB-S.
No need for a beefy box, except for display of HD.

This looks like an odd-ball device. I think that HDMI port is an output, so its more like some moder PVR350 (with integrated hardware decoder and TV out connector), and unlikely to usable by 3rd party apps. ie, wouldnt show standard Window's output so couldnt see GBPVR/NPVR UI etc. Couldnt play files with types not supported by the hardware decoder (xvid etc).
