On the upside the skipping in this release is really fast; skipping to I-Frames makes a definite difference here.

On the downside, NextPVR.exe is crashing when I skip; not every time, but pretty frequently. I've attached logs, but not much interesting there. Here's the first crash from the Windows Application Event Log:

Does a dmp/mdmp file get created in C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive when this happens? If so, please zip and supply.
nope, already went looking for it. no dump file. for each crash there's only a file called "Report.wer" which you previously said was no use. I don't know why all the error logs say a dump has been created when it clearly hasn't.
oops, looks like I have to go offline for awhile (Mommy is out for the afternoon, so it's Daddy-children time). I'll be back in a few hours to follow any troubleshooting steps you may post.
No c:\temp\frontend-crash.mdmp?

If not, can you see if creating a c:\users\public\npvr\logs\minidump, then reproducing the crash results in a mdmp in that directory?
no dump created in c:\temp, nor in the minidump directory I just created per your instructions.
We'll need to get a dump file to work out where the problem is happening.

If these other methods aren't resulting in a dump then you might need to try running the application with adplus, which is a microsoft utility that can be used to capture a crash dump.
or what about the Create Dump function in the Task Manager? does that create the right sort of dump?
johnsonx42 Wrote:or what about the Create Dump function in the Task Manager? does that create the right sort of dump?
That only dumps a currently running processes (ie, prior to the crash). It cant be used to dump the crash state.
ok, got it with adplus. I used the command line "adplus -crash -o c:\temp -sc "c:\program files\npvr\nextpvr.exe"". hopefully that produced the appropriate dump. the whole thing It's 128MB compressed with 7-zip. how big a file can I e-mail you? I run my own mail system so I have no limits, but don't know if you can receive a file that big.

or do you need only 1 of the dumps? It created 3:

edit: as I'm going to bed now, I just sent you the adplus crash logs and minidump since they're <3MB compressed. If you need the full dumps you'll let me know.
