I installed a technisat dvb-c card with softcam. I had it almost working but in trying to getting complete I must have broken something because NPVR started crashing all the time. So I put an old windows image back and made a clean install.

Now, I got so far that I can HEAR a non-encrypted channel, but I can't see it in NPVR. I can see the video in windows media player so I thought it might be a decoder problem, but both available video decoders don't seem to do the trick.

The other problem is that acamd keeps saying that there's no smartcard defined, which explains why I can't see encrypted channels:

Things I did:
First, I physically removed the (other) analogue tv-card before reinstalling.

The only thing in cardclient.config is:
newcamd:127.0.0.1:15050:1/0604/ffff:gebruiker1:wachtwoord1:0102030405060708090A0B0C0D0E

I added a file acamd.ini:
MonLog=1
(but I don't know where the log is going)
Don't I have to add here "technisat=1" or something?

I copied the acamd files in directory: C:\Users\Public\NPVR\MDPlugins\TechniSat Mantis DVBC BDA Receiver #1-1

I copied and pasted FFDecsa.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR, but NPVR still couldn't find it. Not until after I copied it in C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\Other, NPVR didn't say it was missing.

I changed <readers name="Phoenix"> and <node>COM9</node> in newcs.xml and started newcs.exe

What decoders were they?

Reproduce the problem then post the npvr.log/nrecord.log and I'll take a look.

Thats internal to acamd, so no something I can really help you with, but given you said you can hear it, and see video in WMP, then it sounds like it is decrypting, so probably not a problem.
sub Wrote:What decoders were they?

Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder and MainConcept MPEG-2 Video decoder (this last one was installed with the dvb-c card)

I can hear only the non-encrypted channel. And to make things worse, at the moment I'm having a problem with the smargo. In newcs I get "[Loader] Reset failed" and I am not getting [Keyman], etc. I uninstalled the smargo and installed again, but no luck.
Does your DVB-C system definitely use MPEG2? I remember one user having H.264 misreported as MPEG2, causing the wrong type of decoder to be loaded and no video.

Can you try doing a recording, then play it, then post the npvr.log again?

Well, at the moment I got news working normally, but NPVR freezes totally when I try to watch tv or make a recording.
I am using this card: http://www.technisat.com/indexa326.html?...849658-211
forgive me if I am not sure it's mpeg-2. But what if it isn't? Do I just have to make a change in the settings?

It's getting real late over here (2:40AM), so I'll check for new posts tomorrow. Thanks for now.
I did add the logs, but I didn't see anything about the freeze.

You might need to try making a one minute recording and put it somewhere I can download it from.

All DVB devices support both MPEG2 and H264 - its more of a software.

I did start a recording and after a minute or so I canceled it. Then NPVR totally freezed again. Result is a 0 bytes video, so I added it here.
Before I could zip the file, I had to stop the recording service. Is that normal?

Sure hope the card wasn't a wrong choice.

I saw another strange this that might explain some more (at least for you, not for me). There's a crashlog something to do with .net . I added that file too.

Hope you can make something of it. Thanks for the support.
I just reinstalled visual c++ 64 bit. The recording I made is still going on. When I tried to cancel it, I got an exception window. I added a file so you can see and the logs.

I haven't added anything in the hosts file. Do I have to?

That file would be no use. I wanted to see on of the files you said give video in WMP, but not in NextPVR.

What did the error say? It wasnt shown in the logs.

No, you shouldnt have to do anything like that.
