Does nDroid do any transcoding for live tv or recordings. I can not find any options regarding this. The players I have tried are having issues with stuttering. If I use Mxplayer to open a network stream with the following options it plays fine.

No it doesn't. I briefly looked at the ffmpeg port for Android with the idea of writing my own video player for nDroid but it was incredibly complex to implement. Perhaps for a future version when I have more time.

At present, nDroid uses the original /live URL which doesn't transcode. The /transcode option was only introduced in 2.4.x (I think) and I'd need to add a 'Settings' option to nDroid to allow a user to set their resoultion/bitrate preferences etc. I intend to do this ideally for the next version of nDroid although that has been delayed due to other things getting in the way.

That option only works for live tv (obviously) and the nDroid Service doesn't do any transcoding at its end for things like recordings / videos. I'll try experimenting with it when I get the time - I'd need to pick sub's brains first though to get an idea how he does it for live tv with the /transcode option.

Cheers,
Brian
Any progress on this. I would love to be able to use it for FarScape and Rome!
Not with the current version of nDroid. It's still a priority on the ToDo list though.
