Hi there.
In Australia, some TV channels are changing their frequencies and we will need to retune our equipment so that all the channels are scanned in correctly.
Will this effect NextPVR in any way?
will someone with a new haupauge TV card need to rescan their channels and create some new ini files for NEXTPVR to use, or will we be able to just rescan for the channels with the ones already there?
Thanks.
Digital ? Judging from the UK frequency changes, you will need tweaked .ini files as these contain the transponder frequencies and a re-scan.
Can you tell me Where do I get those?
Thanks.
Just do a 'All Countries' / 'All Regions' scan, and it should automatically update your frequencies. Maybe backup your npvr.db3 file first though - just in case.
Hello there.
Thanks to the helpful staff at digitalready.gov.au,
Here are the settings you will need to enter into your existing ini file
not all channels are being retuned, for the Melbourne Metropolitan area, it's Channel Nine and SBS
I also added an extra frequency which contains channel 31 which is not included with the default tuning info that comes packaged with the nextPVR installer or any of the patches.
(cut here)
[TERTYPE]
1=Australia
2=Melbourne

[DVB]
0=6
1=1,177500,0,0,7
2=2,184500,0,0,7
3=3,191625,0,0,7
4=4,219500,0,0,7
5=5,226500,0,0,7
6=6,557625,0,0,7
(end of file)
Note, you can build your own custom ini file and add channels, but you must do it by hand through a text editor, and make sure you obtain the proper frequency settings from each TV transmitter that services your area. Last but not least, you must stop the NEXTPVR service and back up your npvr.db3 file
restart it, then open up the NEXTPVR interface and rescan for the missing channels.
btw: I had to go to the retune.digitalready.gov.au and enter my address in order to obtain the frequency information for my local area.
and putting in fictional street or road name does not work, you must enter the name of a real street.
I understand that using haupauge's software, you can run a scan and it will automatically pick up new channel frequencies and it will save the results into an .ini file.
I've no idea if their software will work on other devices from different manufacturers though.

nice work, but the tuning .ini files are not used by the recording service so there's no need to restart the service. likewise the tuning files have no effect on the database, so there's no special need to back it up; the worst that will happen if you muck up the tuning.ini file is that NextPVR will crash when you try to scan which won't hurt the database.

thanks for your contribution however, sub will probably see this and update the .ini file for your transmitter for the next release.
It's taken me some time and effort to work out the new frequencies for SBS and TVS for the Sydney area. So, for the benefit of others, here are the frequencies for 2014:
177500 7 Digital
184500 SBS
191625 Nine
219500 Ten
226500 ABC
536500 TVS

So the file:
C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Tuning\DVB-T\Australia - Sydney.ini
ought to read:

[TERTYPE]
1=Australia
2=Sydney

[DVB]
0=6
1=1,177500,0,0,7
2=2,184500,0,0,7
3=3,191625,0,0,7
4=4,219500,0,0,7
5=5,226500,0,0,7
6=6,536500,0,0,7

Cheers
Ray
Here are the details for Armidale care of Digital.Ready@servicestream.com.au

3=3,578500,0,0,7

Hi Everyone. I'm from brisbane and i have to change the file mentioned above as our frequencies have been updated. The people from digital ready forwarded me the new frequencies for brisbane.
From the image you can see our frequencies, but look totally different to sydney etc. Am i supposed to put zero's on the end of each so it is a 7 digit number ?
