Full Version: Only 1 hours of EPG data? Rest "no show details"
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Setup:
HDHomerun plus (hdtc-2us)
Windows 7 64
NPVR 3.3.8

NextPVR works and records. EPG was fully populated for a whole day when initially setup. Using OTA EPG.

But now EPG only shows about 1 hour channel data. The rest appears "no show details". I can manually update EPG hourly, but that only gets the next hour of data.

Am I doing something wrong?

Update:
In HDHomeRun Setup if I change Main application to "NextPVR" I only get about 1 hour of EPG data & video is saved in H.264 format. However, if i use "Other: ATSC/QAM" I get about much more. About 12-24hrs worth, but video is saved as mpeg2.

So how can I configure it to save video as H.264, but still get a full day of epg data?
OTA EPG is a good option in some countries, but not USA. SchedulesDirect is recommended, or maybe try mc2xml: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.XMLTVEPG
As mentioned above, the OTA EPG data is pretty much useless in the US. You'd usually only get 6 hours or so, which isn't going to cut it for PVR type usage, where you really need to be able to schedule recordings days in advance. As Zeb said, look into Schedules Direct or mc2xml.

If you really wanted to go down that path (no point in my opinion), then I can talk to SiliconDust about this for the next release.

I can get about 24hr of EPG which is enough for me, but doing so makes NextPVR not record in H264.

So this is an issue with silicondust firmware/software and not a NextPVR configuration issue?

Edit: looks like it depends on if NextPVR supports it. (http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/viewto...39&t=18298)
There is nothing we/you can do about it in the short term (since my build isn't compatible with the build you're running). When the next release is out, I could experiment with the pid filtering to try making it work.

Pid filter issues are only something that effects HDHR devices, and nobody uses the ATSC EPG in the USA, so pretty rare combination and not an issue anyone has pointed out in the past.
This sounds like my issue from last year http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...PG-Updates For the HDTC I'd prefer NextPVR capture via http or hdhomerun_config especially if recording quality was selectable.

Yes, quite possibly. It's only really the extra clue that MiyoshiSaki provides above, about the difference between "Other: ATSC/QAM" vs "NextPVR" that makes the cause clear.

I can take a look at it when the next release is out.
