Record something with NPVR and look in C:/users/public/public videos and the recording will be there in a sub folder with its name. Go record something with a different device and make a folder in the same place and copy the new video there.
Now when you run NPVR and look at menu item "recordings" what was recorded with NPVR shows but not what you copied there from another drive. You have to go to "videos" and through the different folders to get to the show recorded somewhere else. So what does NPVR do to tell it where what it recorded is located? Can something be done to the other recording to make it show up under "recordings?" It would be less work than having to run through all the other folders to get to the recording done some where else.
When you do a recording, it's file name is stored in the database. ie c:\some\directory\somefile.ts.

Any time it loads the recording list, it checks if the filename specified in the database still exists (c:\some\directory\somefile.ts). If not, it assumes you've manually deleted the file, so it removes the recording from the database to cleanup.

If you've manually moved a file, causing it to be removed from the database, you can reimport the recording using the 'Import Recordings' button in the Settings->Recording screen, and just select your .ts file.
Thanks for the info Sub. I will look into all that and see what I can come up with.
