After adding the server manually (could not autologon), guide, recordings, and channels show fine. But nothing plays. For recordings, short "initializing" pops up on the upper right hand corner of the screen, followed by a blank screen. Live TV shows the message longer, but same result. This is on wife's ipad mini 2.

Can you check for a .log file getting created in the C:\Users\Public\NPVR\web\temp directory?
We'll focus on recordings first, because there is less that can go wrong there.
This is what is in the web folder.
You should have "temp" directory. Create one, then try to watch something again.
Now you've created that 'temp' directory, do you get a log file created in that directory when you try to watch something?
No... "This folder is empty".
Ok - have a try streaming a recording, then zip and attach your log files. I'll check why that log file etc aren't being created.
There is no obvious cause in that log, but I've attached an updated nshared.dll with more logging. With this patch installed and the recording service restarted, please reproduce the problem again and repost the logs
