As discussed in this thread, both of these recordings would freeze if I attempted to skip forward. Each is a 150mb chunk from the beginning of the .ts file:

Kimmel:

Amazing Race:

Please let me know if you need any other information. Logs are available in the thread linked to above.

Thanks!
If you just leave it playing, is the video all there?
I have not let them play more than a minute or two in NextPVR (without causing it to freeze), but I have watched the .ts files in VLC or Media Player Classic and the entire episode is there and it plays fine.
Sub - just FYI, I had the BDA in the HDHomerun config set to NextPVR, which I changed to "Default" (thanks to the post Martin made in the other thread) before the Kimmel recording was made.
I looked at the Kimmel file and the PMT packets stop being delivered about half way when Kimmel starts after the news. Not sure if it is the broadcaster or the HDHR causing this non standard stream.

Martin
Does the Amazing Race file have the same issue?
Yes the PMT stops as soon as the second show starts. The utilities I linked to do fix this problem.

Interesting, thanks - I will try remuxing them. Just as an additional data point, I'll upload a chunk from the "good" Amazing Race episode if you want to see if it has PMT packets. (What are you using to check for these?)

It does because they show up in the pre-padding which is why you can seek backwards during the first minute. I use http://www.pjdaniel.org.uk/mpeg/

Martin - thank you for all your help. I recorded Kimmel and Colbert again last night and both played back/allowed skipping without issue. I did change the setting in the HDHR config to use Mediaportal (instead of Default). Have a bunch of shows set to record tonight to continue checking.

I downloaded the MPEG analyzer you linked to but I am not clear on how to tell if PMT packets are present.
