Full Version: EPG not updating and weirdness

Hello All,

I have two issues that I'm hoping you guys can help me with.

First, NPVR wakes the PC at 14:40 every day to update the EPG from Schedule Direct as I have configured it, however, it never actually performs the update and doesn't execute the UpdateEPG.bat script. When I update the EPG manually, it updates the EPG and executes the UpdateEPG.bat file. Please see a section from my BatchProcessing.log which I've annotated.

Second, NPVR wakes up the HTPC in the evening every day during the same time window and sometimes early in the morning, but for no reason I can fathom. It also wakes up to record things fine. Please see the log below.

I am running 4.0.4 right not, but the situation was the same on 3.9.6 (I believe that was the last release) on a WIndows 10 Pro desktop.

Thank you very much,
WW
Is there a reason you can't use the built in Schedules Direct support? In any case please zip and send all your logs.

Martin
Hi Martin,

I am using the built-in Schedules Direct support and it works just fine when I run it manually, which I'm having to do ever few days. I've zipped my logs

Thank you very much,
Arieh
PostStartup.bat is nothing to do with EPG updates. It's simply called when the recording service is started. ie, you've either manually restarted the recording service, or rebooted the machines (causing Windows to autostart the recording service).

Your logs only covered one time the recording service was due to the EPG update, but I notice the recording service was restarted at that time. My guess is you're doing something odd in your updateepg.bat, to cause the recording service to be restarted. The updateepg.bat shouldn't be used for that type of thing - it's intended to be used for things like downloading an xmltv EPG, and any pre-processing. Not for running commands like restarting services, or running NextPVR executables (like nextpvr.exe -updateepg).
Hi,

All I'm using the UpdateEPG.bat file for is to write a single log entry in order to try and debug why the EPG won't update manually. NPVR behaves the same way wether or not the batch file is present. The only other customization I employ is that the EPG update time is 14:40 instead of 15:00.

Your server never seems to go to sleep Do you have a timer set to hard power on your server for the EPG update? It looks like the server is restarting rather than waking each day around 14:40.

If you feel that the PC is sleeping perhaps there is something wrong with how power management is configured on your server maybe it is crashing on the wake. Might be worth checking the event viewer logs.
