Full Version: NPVR suddenly started "stuttering"

Hello

I wonder if one of you good folks can help me.

I have NPVR running on a Minix mini-pc attached to my TV. I use it to view my IPTV subscription. Apart from a few minor issues (ghosting of old groups which I tried to resolve via the patch that sub kindly produced) it has been working well.

All of a sudden however (possibly at the same time that I tried to use the patch, but not 100% certain), the IPTV streams have really started stuttering (slow to start up, pausing all the time).

It has to do with the NPVR set up on this Minix machine as (a) the streams work perfectly well on the same machine in another application and (b) The streams work perfectly well via the NPVR that I have set up on my laptop (the "test bed" for my setup).

I tried to do a total rebuild of NPVR on the mini-pc (uninstall, delete the /Public/NPVR files, download, reconfiguration) just in case I did something wrong when applying the patch. The problem still remains.

Alas, therefore, I have to ask if any of you clever people can spot the problem by looking at the logs.

Thanks for reading this and thanks for any help you can give.

David
Since you are using a transcoding URL, I don't think that PC is fast enough to transcode in real time for Live TV. Your speeds show under 1.0.

Martin
Thanks for looking, Martin but it was working perfectly well before so why not now? Also (and maybe showing my ignorance here) but the PC works with the same URLs using another app so why not with NPVR.

It's a mystery, as Toyah Wilcox once sang.

As Martin points out, it isn't managing to keep up. speed needs to be capable of 1.0.

It could be CPU - check if it's pegged at 100%. If was working previously, but not now, maybe the IPTV provider has bumped up the quality or something that has adversely affected your machines ability to keep up.

Otherwise it could be network, and it's just not able download the content as quick as it needs to.
Oher apps won't be transcoding on the fly. Perhaps you can configure direct record URLs in NextPVR too I don't know how to do that because I thought ts streams were passing through
