Full Version: Not Finding Channels

Hi

I have an Avermedia A835B AVerTV Volar Green HD attached to my laptop in a dorm room connected to an external antenna via a wall socket.

I have NextPVR installed. NextPVR sees the tuner but when I do a channel scan no channels show up.

When I checked the logs I found the following:

<tuning>
<type>DVB-T</type>
<locator>
<frequency>177500</frequency>
<bandwidth>7</bandwidth>
</locator>
</tuning>

The line I am interested in is the following:

2019-08-06 16:28:24.743 [DEBUG][8] locked=0, present=1, strength=10, quality=10 (took 0ms to check)

Does this mean I have good antenna strength and quality?

If so why am I not seeing any channels?

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Gary
When you did a scan, did you try scanning the "Australia / All Regions" setting? ie, could be a case of using the wrong frequencies for your specific region
Hi

I did scan the All Regions but still no luck. No channels detected. Does that line mean I have antenna signal? I have someone coming to check the antenna but if I have signal I do not want to waste there time.

Gary
Each brand of tuner uses its own scale ... It might be that the scale for your tuner has a maximum value of 10 ... But 10 is a low value for most tuners and I suspect that the antenna socket is faulty. Can you borrow a TV to test the socket?

Also, the tuners in computer devices are not as sensitive as the tuners in a real TV ... The socket might be be okay for a TV but not good enough for a computer device.

It's hard to know. It looks like low signal being report, but you can never know for sure since some drivers just don't report this info.

Does the device work in the software that came with the device?

No it doesn't work with the software that came with the tuner. I am taking a TV back up to check with that.
