I have thrown this out there in the past but I have a problem that keeps giving me fits. Sometimes, usually after the system has been idle for a while or overnight, I try to look at a recording through Recordings or Xrecord. everything looks like it will start but I only get a black screen and no sound. I even get the resume or restart show box, but just a black behind it. I changed MVP's, changed the dongle.bin file, but still have the problem. I saved the log file that I got just after it happened. I would be happy to send it to someone to look at. I inserted a small amount of the file below. Shutting off the MVP with the remote and restarting it usually clears it and it will work again. Sometimes I have to restart the recording service. Any ideas? I love this program and just donated but my wife is over having to work with it so much to get a video to play. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Sorry no, I dont know why you would be getting this. I've not seen this problem myself.

The log above doesnt indicate any problem.
This happens for me about 3 ~ 4 times a week. I only view through the MVP units, and usually have to restart the recording service in order to be able to play videos again. Just want to let you know you're not alone. As an aside, I created a restart batch file that I can run from the menu on the MVP. Saves a few trips down to the basement. I'll keep an eye on my log files when it happens next.
If you press the green power button on the MVP remote, the process will be restarted.
I have this happen on a daily basis as well. As the others have said, it seems to mostly happen after the MVP has been idle for a while. I find that I can move through the GBPVR menus and such without problem. However when I hit play the screen goes black as described above. Restarting the gbpvr.exe instances associated with the MVP fixes the problem. I have tried turning on and off the MVP and that doesn’t always seem to work, perhaps because I turn it on too quickly sometimes and GBPVR didn't have a chance to detect that it was off. If I could get this one thing to be fixed on the MVP then I would say my experience with GBPVR is perfect. This is the only problem I experience.

Well if misery loves company, than I a have lots of friends! (at least a couple). I second Jeff's comments. The program is great now, it will be awsome when we figure out how to fix it. I will keep tinkering.
Just to say I experience this too. Usually solved by power down and up using green button but may take a couple of attempts. Only seems to have started since upgrading to latest GB-PVR. Not a huge issue but a bit of a pain every now and then.
Sub, or anyone else, when you start a video playback, what does the system need to show a file? I am trying to figure out what I can change. I changed to another MVP but that did not help. Once the dongle loads on hard boot of the MVP, does it use the file again from the PC? I am trying to figure out what restarting the recording service resets to make the MVP work. I have been having the problem for about 3 months as far as I can remember so it has been across several releases. I noticed that it is not just my Win XP or the PVR 150MCE since we all seem to have different hardware. Has anyone else tried anything to solve this?
I just wanted to add I experience this frequently as well. Hit play, but nothing. Resume prompt even comes up, but no playback.

I'm not sure which fixes it, sometimes it seems to one or the other so it's puzzling. Sometimes restarting the service on the PC fixes it. Sometimes restarting the MVP but keeping the process running (I dont run as service) fixes it. Sometimes I have to do both.

I'd be very happy if there was a solution, and glad to know I'm not the only one getting it. I just thought it was an MVP problem or something and lived with it, but if it could be solved, it'd be great.
I also have this problem on a daily basis. It seems an awful lot of people have this problem. Has anyone found a solution yet? Powering the MVP down with the green power button on the remote does nothing. What I've been doing is bringing up the GB-PVR config, and immediately hitting OK so that it restarts GBPVRRecordingService.exe and (I think) the 2 GBPVR.exe servers (for my 2 MVPs). What's odd is that I understand power cycling the MVP is supposed to restart the servers, so why would that *not* work, but restarting things via the config app does work? Stale lock file maybe? I don't know. But it is definitely a daily thing. I'll tinker with it some more and see if I can find anything else out.
