  Noob with hardware detect problem
Posted by: groovyclam - 2008-01-29, 05:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I live in the UK and am trying to set up GBPVR for DVB-T receiving via a

"AzureWave AD-TU700" which is a USB2.0 device that has twin DVB-T tuners on it.

It is reported in my XPHome hardware driver list as a "DTV-DVB UDTT 704J - USB 2.0 dual DVB-T driver"

When I try to use Config to "only show devices detected in this machine" then Config.exe crashes with a requester to send a report to Microsoft.

I can use the BDA device in other progs such as ProgDVB fine where it is reported as an "AF9015 BDA Filer"

Any help?

Support for MusicIP mixer mood files
Posted by: Mazirian - 2008-01-29, 04:01 PM - Forum: Recording2, MusicLibrary2, SystemStatus Support - Replies (1)

Would it be possible for you to add support for MusicIP Mixer mood files?

MusicIP mixer creates some of the best play list files I have seen. If your interested in it the API docs can be found here http://www.musicip.com/mixer/httpprotocol.jsp

and information about the program here http://www.musicip.com/mixer/index.jsp

Idea for a plugin developer out there.
Posted by: lumpy - 2008-01-29, 02:47 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I am trying to get up to speed on making plugins but I cant horde my idea until I get up to speed, it's jsut a great idea that needs to be done.

The DVD ripper plugin is great but it is a hard drive space waster, fine if you have a terabyte on your gbPVR box, not fine if you don't like iso's or VOB's...

What's a avi or mp4 guy to do? The program Handbrake has a cli interface for Windows that could make a dvdripper plugin rip to a single AVI/MP4 file easily. It would not work for tv episode disks but it will work for most movie DVD's and if the plugin called a specific batch file it could be tweaked by the user easily for a favored bitrate. All the user needs is a text field to type in the name of the movie before clicking on the rip button, if you did it right you can run it at a low priority and the rip would not interfere with normal operation at all.

Just an idea. probably could be done in a short time by modifying the existing dvdripper plugin by someone that was up to speed and had a working dev environment all set up.

For example, I have a single click rip for all my DVD's on my PC like the following...

handbrakecli -i "D:\VIDEO_TS" -o "C:\movies\mymovie2.mp4" -e x264 -E lame -b 2500 -2 -T --detelecine -x ref=2:bframes=2Confusedubme=5:me=umh -B 160 -R 48 -v

the above does an auto-crop to get rid of black bars, 160bitrate mp3 audio (It can do ac3 passthrough as well) and detelecines the movie. this works great for 90% of the movies out there. it fails on Tv documentaries or shows that are not telecined but interlaced. (second button to run a second script for interlaced?)

  jittery playback when multitasking
Posted by: gangaskan - 2008-01-29, 01:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

here is my machine specs.

AMD Opteron 165
2 gig ram (ocz plat DDR 400)
x-fi Extreme Music
PVR 150 MCE
6800 128 mb? or 256 dont remember off hand its a vanilla PNY one
160 Gig IDE
250 gig IDE

gbpvr is of course, stored on the master drive (my primary OS)
i have live recordings stored on the 250 under a folder \gbpvr\Live!
i have previous recordings via the \Gbpvr\ directory

under my system settings i use

video decoder : FFDSHOW
Audio: System default (only use it because my X-fi Pops and crackles under playback after a while on my current audio codecs)
audio renderer: Default (also, due to the pop and crackle, this seems to be the best choice from what i've been playing with so far)

pvrx2.exe renderer : VMR9 fullscreen exclusive

everything is setup to the best of my knowledge. i have PVRx2.exe running on monitor 2, and when i'm in IE / FF or checking my Email in Thunderbird i get very small video chops, but my audio stays fine. when i switch tabs in IE / FF it does the same, and forget running a virtual server via VMWare Tongue it seems to not like that.

my drivers are not up to date as to chipset / video i know that for sure.

if i need to post logs let me know. Smile

  convert full directory
Posted by: gingerneil - 2008-01-29, 10:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,
I use GBPVR to convert divx files into mpg2 for ease of watching on the MVP.
I use the following ffmpg command in config.xml to do this for each file via the MVP interface:
<Conversion name="MPG-DVD-Quality" cmd="-y -i {SOURCE_FILE} -target pal-dvd -b 4500k -aspect 16:9 -s 720x576 -acodec mp2 -ab 224 -ac 2 -mbd 2 -qmin 2 -async 1 {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension=".mpg" />

Does anyone know how I could use the same command to convert all files in a directory to mpg ? Can it be done using the MVP ? If not, how would I do this on the command line using ffmpg ?

  Pvrx2 custom tasks
Posted by: offrotor - 2008-01-29, 05:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Can I use 'custom tasks' in pvrx2? I tried to set one up, but it will not show up in the menu. I never did try to set it up in GBPVR, I would hate to go back to gbpvr after seeing pvrx2!

  BootIntoGBPVR Problems
Posted by: webserverdude - 2008-01-29, 03:39 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Everything works fine from the moment I plug it in till the moment I use my remote control to "try" to control the GBPVR interface. Seems like a program by the name of "GDI+" has the foreground, and I have to go into task manager in order to use my remote to control the GBPVR interface. Anyone come along into these problems. Anyone ever tried to fix it?

  0kb recordings
Posted by: davestr - 2008-01-29, 03:19 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (18)

I'm running gbpvr on an XP pro machine with a Hauppauge HVR-1800 tuner.

Watching live tv in PVRX2 works great, but lately I've been finding 0kb recordings of shows. No other errors. It looks like shows are recording when they are supposed to, but the resultant mpeg files end up being only 0kb long.

Any ideas?

MovieWiz - Play DVD Directories RFI
Posted by: JavaWiz - 2008-01-29, 01:37 AM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (20)

Several users have asked if MovieWiz could play DVDs that have been ripped to the HD. I am looking at adding this feature, but (mostly due to lack of disk space) have never tried putting a DVD on my hard drive. I have quickly learned, it is not as easy as copying the directories to the HD.

I've stumbled on DVD Shrink, which seems to be able to copy the DVD into the proper directory structure on the HD.

As I develop this feature, I want to make sure I'm not totally off track...

  • For those of you looking for this functionality, is DVD Shrink a reasonable way to get the DVD image locally?
  • Are there other formats/methods I should be aware of?
