Whoo Hoo, I got it working. I couldn't find anything wrong in the config.xml, so I just uninstalled VA for the nth time, deleted it all, deleted the VA part of config.xml, reinstalled, and it seems to be working!

So what ever you thought about it not being enable must have been right, THANKS!

Now for a request How about an option to sort episodes alphabetically? I have all shows renamed by episode number, and it would be great if they showed up that way. I do a custom changing of the subtitle field that includes the last 4 digits of the zap2it, then I use AddEpisode to change the mpg to that.

Plus is there anyway to prevent shows moving to the DVD part?

    I broke it again!

It worked once, I should have tried it a couple times before mucking about. I closed GBPVR, opened config, added my archive folder and my dvd rip folder and moved the plugin to the TV tree menu, and it hung when I launched it again. I'm trying to put it back to see what broke it.
I moved it back to the root manu and that seemed to fix it. Hmmmm why doesn't it like to be in a sub menu? I'll keep putzing.

I've never tried it in a sub menu. I suspect that is the problem. I don;t have access to my development machine right now but I'll look at the code later and see.

For the first one, if you press the red button while in the videos list it will go through different sort orders, including alphabetical (and a sort by season and episode if that information exists in the archive database)

As to the second thing, I'm not sure how you get moved shows to end up in the DVD list. That isn't a "feature". The only things I could see is if you have a directory defined as both a video directory and a dvd directory. I;m not sure what would happen in the case. What do you do to make this happen?

1st one, Thanks, I totally missed that... I think I knew that and forgot

2nd one, I never did it intentionally. Dr Who and some others kept dissappearing and showing up in DVD. I think I might have done something that I thought was a good idea at the time by setting the archive and dvd folder to the same place, then changed it, but VA never broke the link. I'll make sure not to do that again. It seems OK now. thanks so far, I do have one more glitch.

I have a couple shows that the description is wrong on. It is showing the description of a Monk episode on 3 different recordings. The preview picture is correct, and it plays the right file (I think) but the description is for the wrong show entirely. it's not a biggie since the pending scheduling is now working for me

Can the preview picture be disabled? It seems to work OK, but I really don't need or prefer it.

I don't know why the description would be wrong unless the data in the database is wrong. The preview picture can only be disabled by editing the skin file. Edit the Video Info Dialog skin.xml file and change the value for the DialogBoxImage special element. I think the easiest thing to do would be to move it offscreen by changing the location to something like 700,400.

1st, the sorting works fine, I was being dumb... I was looking at the text next to the red button and thinking that was the current sort order, not the next sort order. I know it is plain view at the top, rrgghh, my error

2nd, I guess I could do the hide the picture part in the skin, that is as easy as any other fix.

3rd here are the shows affected by the incorrect description

I can't seem to figger out how to add pics, oh well. I think I know what is going on.

1st I am running my own sql code to alter the subtitle field. Then I use AddEpisode to rename the file to match.
    example "0076 - Mr. Monk Makes a Friend (1).mpg"
the (1) gets put in when the file is duped.

If no subtitle exists, the file is (1).mpg, (2).mpg...

Does VA look at filename only? That would explain the dupe descriptions.

If anyone cares, here is my sql code.
    postudateEPG.bat "sqlite3 gbpvr.db3 <testupdate.sql"

    testupdate.sql
    .output test.txt
    UPDATE PROGRAMME
    SET sub_title=SUBSTR(unique_identifier,-4,4)||' - '||sub_title WHERE (SUBSTR(sub_title,1,1)>"9" OR sub_title='') AND unique_identifier <"F";

Basically it put "xxxx - " infront of the subtitle where xxxx is the last 4 digits of the zap2it identifier. Every episode has a unique one, and they are sequential, pretty close to episode number. I don't think my code is causing the VA problems, but the AddEpisode giving mutiple recordings the same file name. I will see if I can change that for shows without a subtitle. Maybe I will alter the gbpvr db to make the subtitle=showname if no subtitle exists. That should take care of the one off shows.

Jeff, thanks for the time. It seems that with your help I have answered my own questions I guess the only real bug would be putting VA in a sub menu, I guess I am the only person to do that?

Yes, it looks at the filename only. That is why you can move files across drives our between subdirectories without problem. As long as the file name is unique, which it is for recordings made by gbpvr, then it will find the right information. For files you import from other sources or DVDs you need to ensure that the file name is unique.
