    zProcess and Windows Home Server

I've had zProcess working well for quite awhile now, no real complaints except the odd restart required. I've recently set up a Windows Home Server on a computer separate from my GBPVR machine. When I moved my divX files over to the WHS shared Videos folder, and updated my GBPVR config with the path, my mediaMVP wasn't able to find the shared Video folder. After scouring the forums, I found the suggestion that I had to set the service to log on as the same account and password as the WHS machine, and that seemingly fixed it, I was now able to find the folder and view all the video files. But now the videos won't play through the mediaMVP. Changing the service to use a different login, means that it is no longer set to interact with the desktop, which I think zProcess needs.

My immediate thought is I will have to merge these two machines together into one, install GBPVR on the WHS computer, and move the TV card there, but I'm not sure I want to do that yet, although I've noticed folks have had success doing this.

Any suggestions for allowing mediaMVP and zProcess on the GBPVR computer work with WHS shared folders, that are on another computer on the network?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I don't use Zprocess, WHS or an MVP so this thought is likely to be bollox. Can you create a user group that contains all the relevant users and give the group permissions to access this and that?

Here's what I think is happening. ZProcess is to be installed on the same machine that is serving to the MVP, which would be your GB-PVR machine

ZProcess should process anything that is being passed to it whether the file is local or across the network with your WHS.

Sometimes, there is too much network latency, which means that a file must move across the network before it can be transcoded, and that might be just a bit too long a wait, and GB-PVR times out.

First I would open ZTranscode and double-click on the input file box, and navigate to your WHS and a file that would normally transcode easiliy.

If you can't find it this way, it's unlikely ZProcess will work for you.

Next click 'start'. Then Click 'View Output' You should get a window with the transcoded video playing.

I believe you should get the green indicator that the transcode is happening fast enough. If that won't work, then ZProcess won't work for you

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...
