    Exclamation UltraXML never finishing

For the last couple weeks, UltraXML has not been finishing up during my nightly update, which causes my listings to never get updated.

I have manually had to kill the UltraXML task myself, so my GBPVR listings can be updated. In the _app.log file, here is the last couple entries. Seems like it is always getting stuck on "Writing out lists...":
    Code:
    7/6/2010 3:26:52 AM :1> Writing File...
7/6/2010 3:26:57 AM :1> Complete Parsing XMLTV file.
7/6/2010 3:26:57 AM :1> Committed. Deleting original and moving new in place...
    7/6/2010 3:26:57 AM :1> Writing out lists...
Also, the titles for my movies has been adding an extra ".". For example, here is the original XMLTV listing:
    Code:
    <title lang="en">The Silence of the Lambs</title>
    And here is the enhanced:
    Code:
    <title lang="en">The Silence of the Lambs.(4*)</title>
I don't know how, and I don't even see anyplace where I can manually add an extra period for this situation. And it started on its own, as I never touched my settings.

I got the extra period figured out. But UltraXMLTV2 is still never exiting for me, and the last log message is always the "Writing out lists...". It is getting annoying to have to manually kill the process every morning.

Any help on this would be great.

I can't make it happen for me. I don't know what might be causing it. I haven't had my development machine up for a very long time, so I haven't been looking at my code. But it's all working for me.

I wonder who else is having trouble

I completely removed UltraXMLTV2 (including the registry), then reinstalled. I had to go through and set up everything again, but it looks like it is now exiting properly.

No idea what was causing the problem though.

I've been having similar problems on and off for a while. Just posted another thread about it before finding this one and the other one about epgtools being down temporarily...

maybe I should try a reinstall anyway, since my problems existed before epgtools expired.

also going to attempt to run epg updates from windows scheduler instead of from within GBPVR

Frank - what does Enable/Disable updateepg.bat on the TS tab mean? Will UltraXML run UpdateEPG.bat automatically? maybe I'm getting into some weird loop.

When you disable the UpdateEPG.bat, Ultra renames the bat to 'UpdateEPGx.bat' which effectively disables the file because GB-PVR can't see it anymore... GB-PVR only looks for a UpdateEPG.bat file not any other name...

I just posted an error I cam across when running UltraXML (with a work around) that may be what is happening for other, especially if removing and deleting registry entries before doing a re-install. They may not be seeing the error message if they are running it through the UpdateEPG.bat file (I run UltraXML manually).

    Hope it helps.

I was having the same problem and solved it by running a scheduled task every morning that automatically kills the UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe process if it's still running (I schedule it a couple hours after the EPG update runs). This takes care of the random times that UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe doesn't exit and has kept my EPG up to date ever since.

The one-line bat file I created is below.
    Code:
    start taskkill /F /IM UltraXMLTV_Enhancer.exe /T
    Hope that helps.
