    Sounds like return is hooked to the context menu. I'd probably map it to the OSD then you can do lots of things. The remote is different on recordings too, do they work better?

    My CEC problem seems to have been the HDMI cable. Started from scratch with current OE and followed Martins youtube 90 second guide (much pausing, crossing the room (loop)
    TV now navigates, just have to learn how to use it again.

    I finally worked it out in an appropriate WAF way. I created the ~/.kodi/userdata/keymaps/remote.xml file and modified the Pause button to do a stop. As Play is mapped to PlayPause, I can now use the pause button on the remote to stop live TV or recording playback and still pause with the play button. :-)

    My remote.xml isn't complicated.
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <keymap>
      <global>
        <remote>
          <play>PlayPause</play>
          <pause>Stop</pause>
          <stop>Pause</stop>
          <title>Back</title>
        </remote>
      </global>
      <FullscreenVideo>
        <remote>
          <title>Back</title>
        </remote>
      </FullscreenVideo>
    </keymap>
    Oddly, the FullScreenVideo Back doesn't work as the back button, but it does seem to prevent the Return key from bringing up the CodecInfo page, which for me is the desired effect.

    If only I could figure out how to auto run X-NEWA at Kodi startup it would be flawless. I tried following Martins instructions, but uncommenting the line in addon.xml seemed to uninstall X-NEWA rather than run it.

    BTW, we seem to have gone somewhat off topic here.... whoops sorry.

    Codec Info can be mapped to the O key but it won't work in LiveTV since I use my own player skin for LiveTV and it is not really FullScreenVideo Likewise Back on LiveTV won't do anything but I don't know what you trying to achieve with it. There is a post to pBS on how to disable the live tv player.

    The comments in xml or !-- at the beginning and -- at the end. I am not a mod on this sub-forum or I'd move the x-newa stuff for you.

    I don't want the codec info popping up, so the return key doing nothing in full screen is fine by me

    Yes, realised that as soon as I started paying attention to what the line said instead of just typing away!!
