Both installs using same decoders - MPEG2 - MainConcept (HCW) MPEG2 Video Decoder, H.264 Video - Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder. I have fixed the problem with the troubled install.

I tried downloading and copying CompPkgSup.dll to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 using a batchfile and running as administrator but I keep on getting pessage access denied.

I have also failed to change the permissions on this directory.

    Can anybody help.

    Thanks

    Maurice

When viewing the Properties->Security tab of this file, click "Advanced", the click "Change" to change the Owner. Once you own the file, you'll be able to change the permissions.

So here I am with the same error and probably have made more trouble for myself than I had at the beginning. I, too, see "unable to communicate with recording service". All this began with no apparent change to anything on March 15. I now assume the Windows update had something to do with it but nothing I have tried restored live tv. I can play episodes from the recorded files, the epg shows but no live tv. Any help will be appreciated.

If you start the "NPVR Recording Service" service, do you get an error messages?

    Yes, this one:

Unable to start service:InvalidOperationException:Cannot start service NPVR Recording Service on computer ".". --->
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file specified
---End of inner exception stack trace ---
    at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.Start(Stri ng{} args)
    at NCtrl.Program.Main(String{} args)

Not enough information for me to know what file it seeks nor even the source of the error message. Any help gladly accepted!

I'm guessing it's something to do with the "C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR2" path you used. Any particular reason for the non-standard location?
