Cannot get Vidimport or Video Conduit to work

I'm trying to use either vidimport or videoConduit to write MetaData to
the npvr.db3 file, in an effort to correct some apparent problems I've had.
Apparently, neither one appears to work. I am aware that VideoConduit
is the prefered tool to use, but I cannot get VC to work at all.

    ........... output from vidimport ..................
    vidImport.exe version 1.71

Import exited but process still running C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\\NextPVR -import:"videos.xml"

    Writing show file showDetail.txt
    .................................................. ......

Apparently the import runs normally and everything seems fine here,
except that vidimport doesn't update my database.

So I Try Video Conduit, and it fails too.
.................... output from Video Conduit ............
    11/27/2018 4:38:07 AM You're outta luck.
Try renaming your directory so it will match something on thetvdb.com.

Using '22 Jump Street (2014)' as search parameter.

I have changed the config file to specify NPVR directory.

I am at a loss. Can anyone shed a little light on me?

This is a wild guess ... I have never attempted to use Vidimport .... does it expect there to be no existing database record for the show?

    The vidimport log has ...
    Executing C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\\NextPVR -import:"videos.xml"
Waiting for to exit C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\\NextPVR -import:"videos.xml"
Import exited but process still running C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\\NextPVR -import:"videos.xml"
This should have generated a npvr.log file ... Does the content of npvr.log help?

That doesn't look like a valid command line option. I think it is -import filename.

Martin is correct, it's "-import filename"

The bigger problem is the two authors of these utilities no longer frequent these forums. If either program creates an XML file that looks "good", maybe try to manually import it.

That's what I have to do, manually import the xml.

You are absolutely correct, Martin. It appears that the command was constructed incorrectly. When I coded with the correct syntax, the database got updated correctly.

Where might I get the source for this program? I'd like to attempt a correction.

I use this; it's only good to import the file though, no metadata (I use NextPVR for that after it's imported). It just generates a recording-dump.xml in C:\Users\Public\NPVR - you have to import using the Settings, Recordings, 'Import Recordings' Button added here for other users). Not updated in a looooong time, no contact from sixgun either.

Frustrated that NextPVR is not working? Take a moment and consider this and this and this and this and this and this. Credit where credit's due; for one guy (with a wife and two kids), most problems are solved outrageously quickly. Patience.

VideoConduit not designed to pull in movie data

22 Jump Street (2014) is a movie. It is not in the www.thetvdb.com database. VC is only designed to pull in tv data. If it was in the tvdb, you may name the folder using the integer series ID per the instructions.
