    NPVR Service Keeps Stopping

Several times in the past few days, I have found the NPVR Service in a 'Stopped' state and have had to Start it again. This has caused a number of programme recordings to be missed. This morning it has happened again. Is there anything I can do to prevent this behaviour? Has anything changed recently to cause this - I have been a user of NextPVR for a couple of years (and have donated), but have not encountered this problem before about two weeks ago.

    Logs attached.

Not much in the way of error in the logs but I noticed this

<reason>The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.</reason>

perhaps your host is blocking your requests at times and that freezes NextPVR.

Do you have any errors showing in the event viewer?

Also although I can't see how you create so many recordings, I like to remind users who record more than a reasonable number of show that NextPVR is for personal entertainment use only.

Hi, Martin. I'm not sure what you would consider 'reasonable', but I can assure you that our NextPVR recordings are solely for the personal entertainment of my wife and I, here in this house! I never post recordings made through NextPVR, or from anywhere else for that matter, online. We rarely watch live TV, except for occasional sporting events - everything else is pre-recorded, either through NextPVR, or from services like Amazon Prime and Netflix. On the other hand, I can also say that I delete a lot of the recordings made unwatched, because the option to only record 'new' programs doesn't seem to work with my provider. I have to record all episodes of a given show such as 'Pawn Stars', including numerous repeats, in order to be sure of capturing new ones when they come along. It is my daily chore to delete all the repeats. The only reason why the remote server would return the "(403) Forbidden." code that I can think of is if more than four streams are set to be recorded at the same time. It's not easy to see in advance when that situation might occur, and nothing shows up on the Conflicts page in the Event Viewer. As far as errors showing, for each of the recordings scheduled to be made during the period when the service was stopped, all that I have is "Failed" beneath the show title on the left, and "Recording service not started" in red on the right.

Yes no problems, managing 30+ new recordings each day I'd consider subscribing to Schedules Direct to get the new flag.

Did you see any errors in the Windows event viewer?

I use IPTV-EPG.com for the schedules - is Schedules Direct better?

I opened the Windows Event Viewer, and expanded 'Applications and Services Logs'. There is nothing listed for NextPVR or NPVR.

FYI - NextPVR v5 lets you set the maximum number of connections for an IPTV m3u, to help you manage this.

I can't see any obvious reason for the recording service stopping. When it happens, do you get a c:\temp\crash.mdmp file created?

Yes. Here's the most recent one (attached).

If I install NextPVR 5, will I have to re-import my m3u file?

Hmm. When I tried to upload the crash.mdmp file, this site said it was invalid. I have now zipped it and am trying again.

And on the topic of the 'new flag', I asked Support at IPTV-EPG about that. They said:

"We don't have a "new" tag. We have a "premiere" tag IF the source provides it. We also have a "previousshown" tag for repeats IF the source provides that info."

It appears that NextPVR doesn't recognize or pay any attention to these tags. Could that be added, please?
