Dear Team!

At first I want to thank you for this genius tool gbpvr. I really love this program and the functions I've never seen before.

I have problems with more than two in one computer BDA-cards. I want to install 4 TechnoTrend Budget (1400series) DVB-S cards in one computer (also known as Hauppauge Nexus-S). As OS will Windows 2000 running.

I'm using TT-BDA-Driver and tried Versions: 4.4.10.2, 4.4.10.4 and 4.4.10.5(the MCE2005 ones). When I have more than 2 cards installed it seems GBPVR got problems to build the graph with the right connectors:

The config.log always said Can not build graph and ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED; When I load the graph.grf into the GraphEdit out from the MS-DirectX SDK It says Error Device not connected.

I tried out that that when I rebuild the graph manually I need to really watch out with 4 same named Capture and Tuner entries, so just for testing I edited the TT inf-files and created for every device a driver pack with ending #1 - #4 to have pseudo sorting. When I rebuilding the graph manual again it works again but has still the problem the system not recordnised the sorting for the capture entries. Just the Tuner was not ended with #1 - #4. So it's always luck to link the right tuner with the right capture device.

I wanted to create 4 pseudo device in the BDA.inf to let controll GBPVR all 4 cards, always like Hauppauge Nova-S#1 - #4 and device number 1 where every (BDA)PIN is significant (is it right english?).

I'm confused because the TechnoTrend BDA-Sample got the right connecting even all cards are called on the same, I'm not sure if this problem can be solved over GBPVR but has anybody a solution for my problem?

I forgot: Version of GBPVR is 0.94.13, actual the driver versions of TT are 4.4.10.4 and i don't think it's a problem of codec or demuxer version because even I downplug the number of cards to two all is running fine.

As I didn't found any google entry from the graph error numbers I didn't found any limitations of devices in the MS-DirectX groups.

Any ideas?

GB-PVR does support multiple BDA devices, but it depends on they implementing the "pin medium" correctly. Some manufacturers dont seem to implement this the way Microsoft recommend and it causes problems detecting which tuner goes with which capture device.

Can you email the TechnoTrend BDA sample to me at support@devnz.com? I'll take a look to see if I can improve this for you.

Dear sub!

Thank you for your fast reply. The BDA sample from TT is a compiled exe program so you can just use it. It's not a graph or something you can load into an interpretor. It's included in the BDA Softwarepacket they have on the web, but without reading the sources it would be heavy to do something with it. If you still want to have a look on it just say it and I will send it.

I agree with you about the drivers, now I'm in a state where I changed the inf. all and installed it and I'm seeing what you're saying. Look my config.exe-native.log:

18:06:19.906 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(PBS TechnoTrend Card 1, 1, c:\test.mpg, T:11387,H,27500,23)
18:06:19.906 INFO Initializing DVB-S tuning request
18:06:19.984 VERBOSE getSetting(BDAMultiplexer)
18:06:20.078 VERBOSE About to auto detect correct tuner filter
18:06:20.078 VERBOSE Looking for associated filter
18:06:20.093 VERBOSE - TechnoTrend BDA/DVB Capture 4
18:06:20.093 VERBOSE Successfully auto detected tuner filter: TechnoTrend BDA/DVB Capture 4

That's the problem! In my BDA.ini I tried this:

[PBS TechnoTrend Card 1]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
FILTER_TUNER=TechnoTrend BDA/DVB-S Tuner 1
FILTER_CAPTURE=TechnoTrend BDA/DVB Capture 1
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

But the autodetection still linkes card 1 and tuner 1 to captures 4.

So out of the log:

Card 1 will connect to capture 4
Card 2 will connect to capture 3
Card 3 will connect to capture 4 (?used by 1?)
Card 4 will connect to nowhere and hanging.

Is there any possiblity to switch the autodetect off and set the using of the filters in any config file? Thank you...

OK, I've add <BDAAutoDetectTuner> setting in the config.xml for the next release that should help with this. If you set it to 'false' it wont attempt to autodetect the tuner.

This hack isnt needed for cards with drivers that behave correctly (Hauppauge nova-t's etc).
