i see MS has released .net 2.0.

as my system is already in a constant state of 2 steps forward, 1 step back with various updating / tweaking, i will wait for a braver soul to take point...

EDIT: ah, scratch that. i see that although the MS site says that the release date was 05/11/03, people have been discussing the full release since last week. sorry for the wasted electrons. also sounds like the peeps who have installed it have not been swallowed into the bowels of hell and lived to post.

I can say I've installed the update - no problems what-so-ever. My MVP is definitely having less disconnects - in fact, I have yet to see one for the one week I've had the update.

I'm really excited about the Frame Work release...but I can't wait until it's finally on windows update! That'll be awesome, damnit they should have done it asap so more people will have it sooner AND I hope to see GBPVR upgraded sometime soon to 2.0 .

I installed .net 2.0. No problems observed at all. The processorload on my machine seems to be lower and that might be the reason for less disconnects on the MVP (I have the impression that if the PC's processor runs at 100% for a short time that a button press on the remote easily causes a disconnect).

Does the 2.0 release replace 1.0 or does it just put another layer of .net engines on the machine. With 1.0 1nd 1.1 they both could reside at the same time since things compled with the 1.0 might specifically need the 1.0 version and not the 1.1 version. I would assume they would do something similar with 2.0 since most everything is now written in the 1.1 version of the .net framework.

I am curious to know if 2.0 encompasses all versions which would allow GBPVR to run within the 2.0 framework and thus you may be seeing better performance since it is now running through an updated.....or is 2.0 just layered on top of the exisitng frameworks.......meaning that 1.1 still exists and any performce increases you are seeing may not be as a result of the new install.
