Is there anyway to remove the OSD completely from a skin? It really gets in the way of subtitles so I'd like to just eliminate it entirely.
I've try editing out parts of the osd/skin.xml files that I don't want but the changes I make seem to have no effect. Particularly annoying is the background image under the lower part.

If you set the minimial OSD option in the config app, you'll hardly ever see it.

you could set the osd-transparency to 0 or 1 in the config.xml ;-)

Yeah, I found this in another post and it worked like a charm.
The OSD was getting in the way of Anime subtitles, which sometimes move too fast and require me to pause or time-shift.

I tried the "show minimal OSD" check box in the config program and it caused a problem with my Hauppauge remote. With it checked, the numerical buttons on the remote did not work and I could not input channel numbers. Unchecking and things went back to normal. Also, with it checked, the OSD did not display while fast forwarding but did appear when I paused. This is annoying especially when trying to pause during sports programs because the OSD covers up so much of the screen. I guess the only solution is the the transparency feature in config.xml?

There was a bug which would require you to press the enter key to change channels when using the minimal OSD. Its fixed in the newest versions.
