Say, I want to record a movie a want to see. I get home a little earlier than expected (and the movie is still being recorded). I want to start watching the movie from the beginning (while GBPVR still records (the ending of) that movie).

Possible?

Yes, if you look in the Pending recordings list, you'll see your show in a status of Recording, from where you can select it and begin watching it.

Another question: is het possible to fix the aspect ratio of the windowed version of GBPVR?
