I see the same thing - I have the 'Resume' option on the menu AND I'm asked if I want to resume or restart when I choose the 'Play' option.
What, me worry?

I've just checked this here. With <PromptForResume> true and <UseMenuResumeButton> true, if I select 'resume' from the menu, all works well, but if I select 'play' it starts playback then gives me the resume prompt (incorrect). I've fixed it for the next release.

After upgrading to 96.8 I lost my little pop-up menu to prompt when i clicked 'play' even though I had selected Prompt for Resume in config.exe.

In the past (the way I liked it) was to have the option to select Resume right away (right beneath Play) or after I clicked 'play' to have the pop-up menu show up so I can select Resume or Restart. This is no longer the case for me (and now realize from this thread that it was intentionally "fixed" to be this way).

After reading this thread, I played around with my true/false settings to get the pop-up back. But whatever I do, it's at the expense of losing the Resume option right beneath the Play option.

These are the settings i settled on which finally gives me the pop-up to resume after clicking 'play', but no Resume option underneath Play.

<PromptForResume>true</PromptForResume>
<StoreResumeStartExclusion>0</StoreResumeStartExclusion>
<StoreResumeEndExclusion>0</StoreResumeEndExclusion>
<UseMenuResumeButton>false</UseMenuResumeButton>

Just to clarify once and for all, the Prompt for Resume is for the pop-up that shows up immediately after you click 'play' and the UseMenuResume is the button below the Play (Play, Resume, Delete, Exit)?

Why, someone may ask would I prefer this? It's because in the past when the Resume button showed up, it means now I know I had previously watched the file. Now i have to click Play and see if a pop-up shows up and then I'll know if I've seen it before. (Yes I do have a lot of recordings that are taped daily and this is why I lose track of what I've watched already Smile ).

So my request (not that iit's absolutely necessary because the way it is right now is fine and I know Sub has better things to fix or improve than this) but either have an indication that the file has been viewed before (colour change of the title? or a red dot beside Ready? whatever!) or have it so that people like me can have Resume button show up and the pop-up show up if I click 'play'.

Smile Thanks Sub for reading this long winded message.

(BTW, variation 3 and 4 seems the same to me and it seems 3 should have the Resume button show up at least and no pop-up, but it seems the Prompt for Resume setting governs activating the feature of resuming and not merely controlling the display of the pop-up resume/restart menu.)

I've just checked here, and it seems to be working fine for me.

You should have:

<PromptForResume>true</PromptForResume>
<UseMenuResumeButton>true</UseMenuResumeButton>

When I do this, if I bring up the details of a show in the recordings screen, I see the resume button if I've already seen part of the show.

Sub, you are awesome to respond so quickly, thanks! Sorry to hassle you over something so minor!

Yes, if i set both to true, I get the Resume button but I do not get the prompt to resume/restart when i click 'play'. Which after reading this thread, is what you had originally intended.

I just prefer the old way (whereas Tim-AC prefers the way you have it now) and currently there is no way to set it back to the 'old' way.

The reason I don't like to choose Resume from the menu is because one day I am sure I will accidentally scroll down one too many times and delete the file instead of Resuming it. And no i don't like to prompt before I delete my recordings turned on because it's a hassle. On my slow computer there's always a big delay when I scroll through the menus. (Which is why i have bleepblop installed so i get an audio confirmation that the computer has successfully received the signal from my remote).

Smile It's okay, just glad I got to the bottom of this today! Now it's trying to figure out how to get my PVR USB2 FM Tuner to work again (been broken for a while but i am making progress!)

I have followed your instructions here and still, I did not see "Resume" anywhere, not in the menu, not as a prompt, nothing. I tried using dscaler or powerdvd decoders, but no "resume" on recordings. I found these four lines in my cofig file:
<PromptForResume>true</PromptForResume>
<StoreResumeStartExclusion>0</StoreResumeStartExclusion>
<StoreResumeEndExclusion>0</StoreResumeEndExclusion>
<UseMenuResumeButton>true</UseMenuResumeButton>

What else do I have to do?
BTW, where do I find the log file? What name is it under?

Thanks.

If you dont see the resume prompts anywhere, this sounds like the playback position is not being stored.

The playback position is stored when you start playback of a recording or video file in GB-PVR, then use the stop or esc button to cancel playback midway through. How exactly are you playing the file, and how are you stopping it?

Sub, thanks for the quick reply. I just clicked exit using my mouse, and no resume. I just tried the escape (right click on mouse), and it worked. Thanks again.
