These buttons are on my Hauppauge 45 remote. Is it possible, or could it be added, so that we can assign other buttons (coloureds etc) to other functions like recordings, news etc??

I am with you psycik I would like to be able to somehow tell if a plugin has been loaded so that I can add "More Control" over my "Remote Control" as described in my last post Here

The problem with assigning the coloured buttons for direct access to various plugins/tv guide etc, is that these buttons are usually already assigned in most modules (enqueue music in various music plugins, page down in music albums, sort mode in xrecord etc).

Thus the video/music/tv buttons on the remote are really the only ones that can be dedicated to launching individual features without mucking something up. On the other hand, it shouldn't take much effort to navigate to any particular module (especially if you group things together in sub-menus that make sense to you), and you can always choose which plugins the dedicated buttons launch by editing the main config.xml, so you could alway assign the buttons to your preferred main options - if you have more than four of these, it is probably quicker to navigate to them rather than hunting through your remote!
