What do i need to edit in the xml file to enable the new panels in the main menu that are off by default?

You mean the date & next recording?
Remove the comment markers (the <!-- and --> ) around them: <!-- <SpecialElement name="Panel" ... <SpecialElement name="Panel" ... --> BTW...a small nit but probably easy to fix...the second digit of the date is cut off, i.e. the date shows "December 0" instead of "December 02". At least it does for me.... Also, if I add those lines to the Flat Blue skin.xml, I get an "Object not found.." message and the menu is all black. Is there something more I have to do to add them to the Flat Blue skin? Thanks...

You need to copy the panels folder from the Blue skin to the Flat Blue skin folder
