I understand that MCE means XP Media Centre Edition. What is the difference between a MCE capture card and a non-MCE capture card.

1. Will a MCE card work with GBPVR (for example for the PVR-150 MCE)
2. Will a non MCE card work with XP MCE? (for example the PVR-150)

Or is it that the remotes are the only thing which is different? I'm going to buy a video capture card, and was thinking about a PVR-150 or PVR-350. But I don't understand the MCE option for video capture card. Can anyone help?

I think the lack of remote with the MCE card is the only difference. I've got a PVR-150 MCE running with XP Pro w/ GBPVR. Not sure about #2, but I assume it would work.

the MCE cards have an FM tuner which the non MCE cards do not.

Not all MCE cards have FM tuners. The Hauppauge MCE upgrade kit I purchased doesn't have a FM tuner. (But did include a MCE remote and receiver).

Got a PVR150MCE fom eBuyer on Friday. It's the full retail box (not OEM) and came complete with MCE remote and IR blaster. Got it working in GBPVR under XP Pro. Used the remote but not the blaster.

Only problem is I also have a Nova-T USB2 that I want to use as the 2nd capture device (I'm on the fringe of a freeview area and some pixalization occures so standard TV is 1st choice). GBPVR insists on using the Nova-T as the 1st capture device. Any suggestions.

It prefers to use card for recordings in the order they are listed in the capture sources page of the config app.

There are currently 4 versions of the PVR150 available.

Retail version - PVR 150 with built in IR receiver/blaster and hauppauge 45 buttons silver remote. This version has 1 RG59 Antenna input, 1 S-Video input, 1 RCA composite video input and 1 stereo audio input via 3.5mm phono jack.

Retail Media Center Kit - PVR 150 with 1 RG59 Antenna input, 1 S-Video input, 1 RCA composite video input and audio input via 2 RCA jacks. It comes with a microsoft certified Media Center 2005 USB IR Receiver/ blaster and a 42 button Media Center remote (manufactured by SMK).

OEM version - PVR150 MCE - same as the unit provided in the retail Media Center Kit, but does not include the Media Center remote.

OEM MCE version - PVR150 MCE with FM Radio - same as the unit provided in the retail Media Center Kit, but with an additional RG59 connector and FM dipole antenna. It does not include the Media Center remote.

As far as the hardware is concerned, they all perform equivilently and use the same drivers. You can "mix and match" hardware versions in the same machine without performance or stability problems.
