First of all, my apologies if this is not the correct place to post this question. I have been using GB-PVR for some time, but never did any customization beyond the addition of simple, straightforward plugins. What I am wanting to do now is beyond my limited understanding, though I think it very likely that it is possible, given other users comments and questions.

First, let me describe my scenerio. I have a WinXP system running GB-PVR without any problems. I have other systems in my home running XP and MacOSX. With the recent addition of automatic transcoding of recordings, I thought it would be ever so convenient if I could share files to my other systems in a relatively elegant way. My inclination is to use iTunes Sharing to accomplish this, as the current version supports video sharing of MP4 files.

So, I can follow simple checkbox instructions in the Config.exe application to tell it to auto-generate MP4 versions of my recordings using the Video Ipod option. What I want to do is give these files more human readable filenames (i.e. Program - Episode Name.mp4). I then want to use the freeware application "iTunes Library Updater" (http://itlu.ownz.ch/) to recursively look through my Recordings folder for MP4 files not already listed in iTunes. This can be done by passing the following command line command:

"Program Files"\"iTunes Library Updater"\itluconsole.exe /a /r /e:".mp4" F:\Recordings\

What I don't know is whether a Postprocessor.bat file which I have seen much mention of is the place to do this, or if there is some better way to accomplish my goal. I would really like to have programs appear automatically as soon as they are transcoded, as opposed to setting a system task which runs the above command X times per day, etc.

Any ideas, or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

There is a PostConversion.bat file that is called after the conversion is complete, passing in the filename as a parameter

I created a file named "PostConversion.bat" with the following contents in the gbpvr directory.

C:\"Program Files"\"iTunes Library Updater"\itluconsole.exe /a /r /e:".mp4" F:\

In order to test it, I went into "Video Library", selected a recording and told it to transcode. If my understanding of things is correct, upon completion of the transcoding, the "PostConversion.bat" file should have been executed. Is that correct? Or does this only occur with scheduled recordings? I did test my batch file, and it behaved properly.

Any thoughts?

It'll also log a message in the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log saying "Running PostConversion.bat on: <filename>"

I apologize for my obvious ignorance here, but does it make any difference that I don't want my batch file run "on" anything, but simply run as is? My log file doesn't indicate anything regarding "Running PostConversion.bat".

You dont have to actually do anything with the filename parameter, but this batch file will at least tell you that a conversion has just occurred.

Zip and attach a GBPVRRecordingSErvice.exe.log that covers the time a conversion occurred and I'll take a look.

Sub,

Thanks for the offer. It appears to work just fine now that I'm implementing it with the auto-convert system from config.exe. It seems I was too hasty in my assessment of the problem. It looks like the time when it did not run my PostConversion.bat file was when I used the Transcode option from the Video Library.

I can't say that I've got everything working yet, but the GB-PVR side of things is working like a charm. Now I just need to figure out why iTunes will let me see the shared videos, but not play them.

Thanks for all of your speedy support.
