itc_sburnett Wrote:I had my 'stay alive' set to 5 that didnt seem to help. I solved the trouble by changing the order in which things are performed. I turned OFF comskip and comclean in the recordingsmanager.xml, edited the postprocessiong bat to run comskip %1 then comclean %1 then recordings manager...now it all works...except, when playing back on my Dlink DSM320, the darn video freezes at each comclean splice Sad

Looking at eriks site, I saw there were various versions of comclean. I updated to Comclean2 using Cuttermaran, and all the stuttering and freezing went away. The timelines are correct to boot!

I'd love to see it a rename utility that supports Season, Episode and Title.
And I dont think the rename utility has to do it all. I finally got RecordingsManager, comskip and comclean2 all working in harmony...it just took re ordering the various tools in the post processing bat file.

I won't be adding Episode Number ability to RenameRecording, mainly because I don't want to have to rely on doing Screen Scraping to obtain the information. I personally don't want to require an internet look up every time a show is recorded to rename it. I don't want the dependence on their being an active internet connection. If GBPVR eventually supports episode names, then I'll look at adding that information to RenameRecording.

Now with that said, the source is available, so anybody that wants to may download and modify or add functionallity to the program.

King does have a point about the screen scraping. I am using http://epguides.com/ to grab info. However, the zap2it data does include syndicatedEpisodeNumber information for "some" programs and originalAirDate. Both data items are optional per the spec so all of this data would be a "best try" kind of feature.

My tool is python based. I've got it wrapped up in a single .exe The config file is autogenerated on the first run, or when it can't find a config.

Let me write some stuff down quick and I'll post it later today or tomorrow. I've got some bill paying type activities to attend to first <g>

Hey KingArgyle, is GBPVR ok with OpenSourcing of 3rd party tools? I like to release my stuff under a Python or BSD type license. Do you have any links to any thing that might have been said about the topic? I'm off to search for licensing in the forums.

I'd ask sub, but the CDK Scheduler, RenameRecording and any of the other utilities I have created are all available as open source even though they aren't given a particular license. I tend to follow a LGPL license, but as long as the license doesn't require the software that uses it to make it's source code available, I don't think sub has a problem with it. I would stay away from GPL style licenses, as they tend to muddy the waters.

I agree, it is the same reason I like BSD or Python licenses. Neither requires source code be made available. The only reason for the license is to reassure someone else that might incorporate it, that it is ok.

Yeah, BSD license is preferrable. LGPL is also acceptable.

GPL is incompatible with the GB-PVR license, so cant be legally applied to plugins (since they run in the same GBPVR process, they would require the GB-PVR source code to be made available). You could possibly use GPL for standalone executable, but best to stay away from it in my book.

@omaha_jeff: just wondering if your utility to rename also changes the name in the gbpvr database. The problem i have right now with my setup is that when my script renames the file, gbpvr no longer recognizes it, so I can only watch it through the "my videos" folder, not the available recordings section in the gbpvr gui.

By the way, are you still considering releasing this so I can try it out?
