EPG update reminder

For those of us with dial-up for whom automatic EPG updating isn't an option, it would be nice to have a little pop-up reminder from the GB-PVR system tray icon that says something like "Time to update your EPG" every few days. I missed recording Lost this week and had to buy it from iTunes because I forgot to update my EPG.

how is your experience in general using GBPVR on a dialup?

The PVR im putting together will eventually be on a dialup connection. I was planning on hunting down some sort of dial-up manager that will allow it to connect automatically at night when internet calls are free, and disallowing auto-dial-up during day. have you tried anything like this? I havnt even looked for the dial-up software yet, just assumed it would exist somewhere...

try using task scheduler to set up a task that will bring up notepad or something similar with a text file saying 'time to renew the epg' or something like that..
[notepad.exe reminder.txt] as a simple reminder...
just a thought..
