Gmail plugin - How to encrypt saved account info?

I've got a working version of a Gmail plugin (similar to Googles own 'Gmail Notifier').

At the moment my account details are hard coded into the dll. I dont want to write the username/password as plain text to the config.xml file. Any one know of a good, yet simple way of reading/writing an encrypted string using C#?

I had an encrypt decyrpt method for VB, not sure how easy it would be to convert...and I don't know how secure it would be.

Have you looked at System.Security.Cryptography? There's a C# example here...
