I had a hard drive problem and had to reinstall XP choosing repair a windows xp installation...got everything back and running, gbpvr works fine on the computer, but the media mvp's cannot connect at all...it's been too long since I initially set this all up, what am I missing...I have checked the following...

1. windows firewall is not running
2. hauppauge mvp services are not running
3. gbpvr is set to auto start 2 mvp servers
4. uninstalled and reinstalled .net framework
5. reinstalled gbpvr over top of itself...

still no luck...what am I missing?

Do you have a DHCP server somewhere on the network?

Yes, a netgear router serves dhcp...I power cycled it just for giggles to no avail.

Addition to the faq:

In the event you experience hardware difficulties with your htpc, you may encounter difficulty in getting your mvp clients to connect to the tftp server contained within gbpvr to load the dongle.bin file and/or connect to the gbpvr server. In the event this happens, the proper sequence of troubleshooting is to spend an hour going through every possible setting on the htpc as well as rebooting your router/dhcp server multiple times. If these methods fail to obtain a favorable outcome, unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the mvp and plug it into a laptop to see if you can obtain an ip address from the dhcp server. If you are not able to obtain an ip address, please scratch your head and run back and forth between the room the htpc is in and the bedroom at least 12 times checking other settings. At this time you will notice that when you opened the case on the htpc to replace the failed hardware you knocked an ethernet cable out of the port on the router.

At this point, please proceed directly to the garage and strike yourself in the head with a ball peen hammer repeatedly.
