I have a 900Mhz Athlon with a TNT2 video card and 256MB ram using the pvr-250. I'm running windows xp with sp1. My problem is the menu are a little slow and my video playback and live tv stutters. It skips frames constantly.

My question is do I need more power for this to run better?

When I started this project I decided to use GDI+ for drawing all the menus etc. Unfortunately I've found GDI+ to be a little slow for drawing graphics on slower machine, but quite acceptable on most current machines.

You should be able to get the video playing back smooth on that machine. Try some different MPEG2 decoders (Intervideo/Cyberlink/Elecard). I've seen the video run smoothly on much lower spec machine. Also make sure you dont enable FFDShow as this will suck on a 900mhz Athlon.

wow that was fast thanks.

I checked the fddshow and that is off. I have the intervideo decoder because it came with my pvr-250. I am using overly since my card is not working with the vmr(s).

I'll just try new drivers and see if that makes a diff. Or I may just have to wait until I get a newer video card.
