Hi,

I had trouble too as some numbers wouldn't work on my box. Thats why I used that learner app from USBUIRT. I didnt want to re-learn each key when there was only a problem with one of them.

Does the light on the uirt go when there are "failed" channel changes?

your remote may have a different signal for holding the button and pressing it - which I think is the issue with the New Zealand sky box.

Talk to the author / creator of the USBUIRT device (email at his website) to see about getting the app from him.

Hope this helps.

Also - hopefully someone can help me here

When I go home and have had recordings going during the day, Live TV will not work fully - the USBUIRT doesnt go, and the live TV takes ages to come up (on whatever channel it had been left on)

Is this something to do with power management on my PC - ie. do USB devices get shutdown / hibernated if not used for a while? When I restart the PC everything is back to normal.

If this keeps happening, then I may see about setting up a restart timer which checks when GBPVR is recording next a decided to restart or not - anyone know of an app which will do this?

Thanks

I don't remember the exact response, but I think after receiving the channel it just stayed blank.

I think this is true, based upon my observations in the remote config file

Thanks for the app, I will try it tonight and let you know how it goes

It is a good idea to have pdesuza debug with that app, but just so you know, John (the author) does not like that app being spread without him knowing it. I'd delete it now if pdesuza has downloaded it if I were you Wink

I understand and respect that. I will delete the file. I actually didn't even open it because as I did a little more debugging (with a fresh mind) I figured out the problem. Sub, feel free to correct me on this, but I think gbpvr was designed not to send blaster output signals for channels that do not exist in the epg lineup even though they are valid on the STB (which actually make sense). The real problem was with my lineup. Because of duplicates certain channels could not be identified by their channel number. For example, channel 5, 247, and 8103, are all the same station. But the epg confuses it and merges them into one entry, consequently making all three invalid.

My next debug step will be to do a complete epg reload after checking the remove duplicate box. If that doesn't work, I'll manually remove duplicates of channels that I care about. I can only do the ones I really care for because there are a lot of duplicates. Just for reference sake, I put together a little spreadsheet analyzing the duplicates in my lineup (if select all option in zap2it is chosen). It may be helpful for some other DishNetwork customers who may run into the same problems.

I didn't mean for you, I meant the attachment =)

I don't think John minds people having the file, it's just that he wants to keep track of who has it =)

i'm looking into building a blaster myself and have learned that some of the Dish boxes are using a 56k carrier signal so don't work with all blasters, tho a few can do the wide range, most have an extra filtered ir eye just for learning that has only a few cm range so it can see a wider range of input frequencies..
[tis why the short range on learning]
and the higher frequency [56k as opposed to 36 or 38k] is probably even more sensitive to the learning range issue..
the devices are very sensitive to power fluctuations and timing issues i'm finding..
Sony remotes also use 56k..
[probably why my sony learning remote had no problem with the dish box,but my pvr150 couldn't tune it]
i'm probably going to have to spring for a usb-uirt cuz of the high frequency of my remotes and dish box, making one that can do 56k is much harder...Smile
[but 38k easy to make for 90% of the remotes out there]
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie
