A new version (v1.5) of the UbuStream plugin is now available on the wiki. This version is for use with GBPVR 97.7 (requires .Net 2.0) and works with either MS Access or SQLite. For those using UbuStream in channel mode, the latest version (v1.0) of the External Recorder plugin is required.

For those who have not upgraded to 97.7, the "legacy" version (v1.3) is still available for download from the wiki.

First of all great plugin. My question is in ListMode does the plugin accept the Normal Stop(Ctrl-S) keyboard commands? I ask this because I have a few channels I watch that use winamp and I have configured the Global J=keyboard command in winamp so that The app will exit on Ctrl-S. It works fine with the keyboard, but if I hit stop on the remote control(which works fine for everything else) it does not respond to it. Any help would be appreciated.

When you use UbuStream in list mode, keystroke interpretation is very simple. (Channel mode is more complicated because the GB-PVR shell is involved.) Once you invoke a station in list mode, the player app you've invoked has focus (so keystrokes are interpreted by that app) until you close the app and focus returns to GB-PVR. So, as you've experienced, the Ctrl-S you've defined to Winamp (I assume you've changed the default, which is Ctrl-Alt-End in my version) is processed by Winamp and works fine.

So, if you've configured your remote to send that key-combo when you hit the Stop button, it ought to work. Are you using a Hauppauge remote? If so, have you got a Winamp section in irremote.ini with the key mappings for it? It should contain the entry STOP={ctrl}s

Another approach - for simplicity and consistency across all media players, I have the green power button on my remote set to the "close current window" system call for all apps (GRNPOWER={sys(0xF060)} in the Default section) which will stop the stream, close the app and return control to GB-PVR. For some players, you have to press the button twice or three times, depending on how many "windows" it thinks it has open.

Thanks for the info. I use the Hauppauge MCE Remote and HIP, so I am not sure if it uses the same ini file. But when I hit stop on the remote in Live TV for example, it stops. And the Keymapping for Live TV for Stop is CTRL-S, so I assume its setup correctly. I will try some of your suggestions and let you know. Thanks

The examples I gave for the irremote.ini file are for the "native" Hauppauge IR interface for non-MCE remotes. I don't have any experience using HIP and MCE remotes but, glancing at the HIP section on the wiki, it looks like the same concepts should apply. (If the app accepts a command from the keyboard you should be able to persuade your remote to send the same thing.)

Since you sound like you are an experienced Winamp user, maybe you can help me out. UbuStream relies on the ability to pass a command line parameter to start a player in fullscreen mode. Failing that, there should be a keystroke combo that your remote can send to toggle between window and fullscreen modes (Alt-Enter in WMP, for instance). I can't find a command line parm to do this in Winamp and the available "Hotkeys" don't include a "fullscreen" command. Any ideas?

I researched the fullscreen as well but was unsuccessfull. Once the video is playing you can always press Alt Enter to toggle fullscreen, but that was no use to me. I queried the forums and there is no such command line yet, but according the nullsoft, its in the works. So I found a winamp plugin that will automatically goto fullscreen once the video starts to play. I use the plugin in winamp with ubustraem and GBPVR and it works great. Here is the link to the plugin http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=145540

I then configured the quit command to use CTRL S which is what the remote control uses and that is what I am struggling with right now. If I hit CTRL S on the keyboard it works fine but for some reason when I press stop on the remote it stops the stream, and if I hit back on the remote it then goes back to the ubu plugin page and if I hit stop again it gives gbpvr focus. I also tried it with winamp open in the background while watching livetv, and the same results. Still working on this part though. I subscribe to some of the stream sites(ess, streamwired, craftytv) where you can get TV online and they give you the list of streams in pls/m3u format, so I wrote an app that converts it from pls/m3u to the xml format your ubustreamplugin works(ubustream.xml). If you would like it just let me know. I will let you know when/if I get the remote to stop winamp properly..

Didn't know Alt-Enter worked (undocumented feature?). I'll set up my remote accordingly (better than nothing). I knew about the plugin but wanted to avoid too many "moving parts" in my configuration. Let's hope nullsoft get their act together soon with the command line option (An upgrade to their nsv stream format would be welcome too - it's well out of date).

Sounds great. I'd been mulling over the idea of adding an "import" button on the UbuStream config screen so people could import playlists into the xml file. If you'd be interested in "participating", I could maybe integrate your app into the plugin. Is it written using .Net?

I don't use playlists much so I'm a bit sketchy about details. The pls/m3u format is only used by Winamp, right? I know RealPlayer uses RMP and WinMedia uses WML and that there is also an "open M3U" format . Is there any commonality between these formats or are they all different? It would be nice to offer a seamless import capability for all the major formats.

Best of luck. Smile

Yes the pls/m3u and winamp but I believe that WMP can import a m3u if I am not mistaken. Yes its written in vb.net. I used to use c#, but VB.Net is what I use at work, so its faster for me now.. Sure I would be interested in "participating". PM and we get the ball rolling.

You surely can import m3u, as you also can save your playlist in M3U format from within WMP
